Certain Hollywood families are well-known to fans around the world, but many others still come as a shock to the rest of us. Here are some of the most surprising groups of relatives in show business!
Macaulay Culkin & Paris Jackson
Paris Jackson wasn't just related to her mega-famous father, the late Michael Jackson. She is also the goddaughter of child-star Macaulay Culkin, who was a close friend of her father and a constant presence in Paris' life. They've spent so much time together over the years that they even have matching spoon tattoos.
Paris took to Instagram to write a birthday post for her godfather, with the caption "I absolutely adore you." She thanked him for teaching her how to waltz and being someone who can always make her laugh. We can't help but stan such a sweet godfather-goddaughter duo.
Rihanna, Rorrey, & Rajad Fenty
With millions of fans all over the world, a successful musical career and luxury beauty brand behind her, many people think they know all there is about this pop icon. But what many people don't realize is that Riri also has two younger brothers named Rorrey and Rajad.
Born in Barbados to her parents Ronald Fenty and Monica Braithwaite, Robyn Rihanna Fenty was their first child. She was quickly followed by two boys, and these days they don't shy away from sharing family Instagram posts. Based on the comments, many are blown away by their close family resemblances!
Jason Momoa & Zoë Kravitz
When you think of most stepdads, they rarely seem as cool as we'd imaging Jason Momoa to be. So we have to admit we're a little jealous of Zoë Kravitz, Aquaman's stepdaughter! After her mother Lisa Bonet's marriage Lenny Kravitz, of which birthed Zoë, she remarried Jason Momoa in later years.
Although Momoa and Bonet are now divorced, he and Zoë had such a strong relationship. Momoa even took an interview with People as a chance to share his appreciation for Zoë, saying, "[She's] a beautiful human being." He even revealed to Rolling Stone that they call each other "papabear" and "rascal."
Sheila E & Nicole Richie
Lionel Richie's connection to his adopted daughter Nicole is so well-known that we shouldn't have to cover it here. But did you know that Nicole is also the niece of well-known singer and percussionist Sheila E? And if they weren't cool enough, they also appear to have a super close-knit relationship!
Sheila appeared on The Simple Life to tell viewers about their close relationship, saying, "I love my niece Nicole." She's also taken to Instagram to share photos of herself and her family member, writing, "Me and my niece @nicolerichie love u beautiful." How sweet!
Rashida & Quincy Jones
Though she's definitely paved her own way in the entertainment industry, Rashida Jones was actually the product of two famous people. Her father is renowned musician Quincy Jones, and her mother is the late actress Peggy Lipton. Rashida even has a famous sister, Kidada Jones, who is a model and occasional actress.
Though she has thrived as an actress, Jones has recently forayed into the world of film-making too. And who better to use as a subject than her own famous father? She co-wrote and directed the Netflix documentary Quincy, which was critically acclaimed and, we can imagine, also brought her closer to her father.
Paris Hilton & Marilyn Monroe
Over the past two decades, multi-media star Paris Hilton has made her way onto multiple platforms in the entertainment industry and many other markets. But this talented mogul recently revealed a piece of news that might be the most exciting tidbit since her documentary.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan in 2020, Hilton shared the news that she was linked by blood to another iconic blonde in American history. "My mom just did one of those 23andMe DNA kits, and I am related to Marilyn Monroe and Queen Elizabeth," she beamed.
Al Roker & Lenny Kravitz
This is the kind of celebrity relationship we definitely don't expect! As it turns out, popular weatherman Al Roker and lauded musician Lenny Kravitz are second cousins! The connection is via Lenny's mother, Roxie Roker, who happens to be Al's first cousin.
Kravitz even went on TODAY and elaborated on this surprising connection back in 2011. "My mother was Roxie Roker, my grandfather, Albert Roker from the Bahamas," he explained. It's believed that the two media personalities share a great-great-grandfather.
Dolly Parton & Miley Cyrus
Even Miley Cyrus fans may not know that the pop star has had a close relationship with iconic country star Dolly Parton since childhood. They aren't blood-related, but that doesn't matter. In fact, Dolly Parton explained their bond in an interview with SiriusXM's Just Jenny in 2019.
Parton collaborated with Billy Ray Cyrus in the '90s and soon met his newborn daughter Miley. "When Miley came along, I said, 'She's got to be my fairy goddaughter,'" Parton proclaimed. She even guest-starred in her goddaughter's hit TV show Hannah Montana.
Berry Gordy Jr. & Redfoo
Redfoo, of LMFAO fame, isn't just a larger-than-life music personality. He's also the son of Stephen Gordy, one of the founders of Motown Records. Redfoo's real name is Stephen Kendal Gordy, but that isn't the only interesting family connection he has in the music industry...
In fact, he's also related to his own musical partner, the second half of LMFAO, known as Sky Blu. That's right, Redfoo and Sky Blu are uncle and nephew! And though they don't see too much of each other these days, Redfoo told the Press Association, "He'll always be my nephew; I'll always be his uncle."
Jared & Shannon Leto
If you were ever a fan of the indie band 30 Seconds To Mars, you probably won't be surprised by this next entry. Hold on to your seats because the uber-famous actor and musician Jared Leto has a brother named Shannon, who has frequently collaborated with his sibling on different projects.
The brothers appeared on screen together back in 1994 on My So-Called Life, before starting their band 30 Seconds To Mars, where Jared provides vocals and lead guitar, and Shannon plays the drums. According to Shannon, "It's great always knowing that there's someone having your back no matter what challenges arise."
Jaden, Willow, & Trey Smith
It may surprise you to know that there's a fifth unit of the famous Smith family. Back before Jaden and Willow came into the world, their father, Will, was married to a woman named Sheree Zampino, his partner before Jada. And he and Sheree had a child of their own, named Willard Carroll "Trey" Smith III.
Trey was occasionally in the spotlight as a child, but he chose to stay in the background as he got older, letting his younger siblings take the stage instead. But even if he isn't an A-lister like his siblings, dad, and stepmom, he still has a strong connection to his family and spends plenty of time with them.
Luke & Owen Wilson
Even though Luke and Owen Wilson don't look as similar as you might expect family to, they are undoubtedly brothers. In fact, they were raised together in Dallas, Texas, where they started experimenting with filmmaking. And, they even appeared side by side on the big screen.
They got their big breaks together acting in Wes Anderson's early films, in particular the runaway 90s success, Bottle Rocket. Since then, they've gone on to have their own separate careers, though according to Celebrity Net Worth, Owen might be more successful, with an extra $20 million under his belt.
Brandy Norwood & Snoop Dogg
If you're a fan of old-school RnB, then you'll definitely remember the singer Brandy. But did you know that she's also the first cousin of rap extraordinaire Snoop Dogg? Snoop even mentioned it in a 2006 interview with MTV, saying, "We never really told the world because we weren't trippin' off of that, but that's my family."
And they're a close-knit pair as well. Not only do they share social media posts about each other, but they also record together! Back in 2009, they released the single "Special," along with producer Pharrell Williams. That's one talented family right there!
Jonah Hill & Beanie Feldstein
You may have seen photos of the tattoo actor Jonah Hill got that says "Hello, Beanie!" or seen him in a special sweatshirt etched with the scripted words "Beanie's Brother." Well, the sweatshirt simply said it all, because these two are siblings! Just look at those beaming smiles!
Beanie Feldstein is also an actor, and in 2017, when she performed in the Broadway show Hello, Dolly, her brother got the tattoo to commemorate the lauded performance. It has become clear over the years that the two actors have a very close relationship, and we're 100% here for it!
Denzel & John David Washington
Some may have taken notice of the striking features John David Washington has. But not everyone knows that the successful actor and former football player shares these attributes with one of the world's best-known Hollywood stars, Oscar-winner Denzel Washington. That's because these two are father and son!
Not content to rely on his father's reputation, John David has gone on to play impressive roles and even earn some nominations of his own. Described by Christopher Nolan as "Extraordinarily hard-working, very, very thoughtful, and very considerate," it's clear he has established a reputation all on his own!
Timbaland & Pharrell
If you were watching The Cruz Show when rapper and producer Timbaland made an appearance, you were probably as shocked as we were to learn what we're sharing now. Timbaland has a very close connection to a fellow producer, Pharrell Williams, they're family!
These two cousins actually entered the industry together, starting off in an early rap group called S.B.I (Surrounded By Idiots). "We really family," Timbaland, also known as Timothy Zachery Mosley, assured The Cruz Show viewers. According to him, the pair share a grandmother.
Tracee Ellis & Diana Ross
If you thought that Tracee Ellis Ross looked familiar, it might have something to do with her mother. This multi-talented actress, singer, producer, and TV host happens to share the same genes as the iconic singer and actress, Diana Ross! Tracee is the product of Ross' marriage to Robert Ellis Silberstein...
...And they certainly seem to be a close-knit family, too, with Tracee and Diana frequently taking to the red carpet together. Their resemblance to each other is striking, and there's no doubt the pair turn heads left and right when they're out together. We love to see a mother-daughter power duo!
Maya Rudolph & Minnie Riperton
Every now and then, comedian and actress Maya Rudolph has been known to belt out a tune on screen, and now we know where that vocalbox is from. Her mother, Minnie Riperton, who tragically passed away when Maya was a child, was a popular singer back in the 1970s.
Despite her departure from this reality, we have no doubt that Minnie would be proud of her daughter's accomplishments, even though her interests lead her down a very different career path. Although both women's hearts were captured by entertainment, we can't help but wonder if Minnie had a strong sense of humor like Maya.
Ludacris & Monica Denise Arnold
A la Snoop Dogg and Brandy, here is another surprising familial link between a famous rapper and an RnB singer. Ludacris, also known as Christopher Bridges, and Monica Denise Arnold are also cousins! Supposedly Monica's stepfather was a man named Reverend Edward Best, Ludacris' uncle.
And these two talented cousins even decided to collaborate as adults. Back in 2015, they teamed up to record the track "Ocean Skies," showing music lovers what can happen when a family sticks together! We can't help but wonder what their collabs might have looked like in childhood!
Cory Booker & RuPaul
RuPaul really got the audience talking during the season 13 finale of RuPaul's Drag Race. He introduced New Jersey State Senator Cory Booker onto the show to announce a challenge. It wasn't Booker's job that was surprising, but how RuPaul announced him. "Please welcome United States Senator and my cousin, Cory Booker," he said.
And for anyone who was skeptical? "No, really, we are related," RuPaul insisted after. These two public figures made this connection back in October 2020 on an episode of PBS' Finding Your Roots. Corey also chimed in, saying, "Thank God for my cousin RuPaul."
Yara Shahidi & Nasir Jones
Let's take a look at the unsuspecting relationship between Yara Shahidi and Nasir "Nas" Jones. This respective film actress and rapper aren’t just industry comrades: they're also cousins.
But as it turns out, Shahidi was just as surprised to find out about her famous connection as we are! She knew that Nas was her cousin, but it was revealed in an interview with Fuse that Yara had no idea he was famous! We're sure that's just one of many things the famous relatives can share as adults.
Dave, James, & Tom Franco
Now for another famous family that comes in three! Most people won't be surprised to know that actors James and Dave Franco are brothers, as they've been linked through several projects and have plenty of mutual friends in the business. But did you know that there's another brother in the Franco family?
Tom, the middle child of the Franco's, generally keeps out of the spotlight. However, he did dabble in some acting alongside his siblings when he took to the screen in James and Dave's 2017 film The Disaster Artist. Now you've got the perfect excuse to go back and rewatch it!
Gabrielle Union & Saweetie
Once Saweetie's tracks hit the charts and her career took off, some interesting news began to float around. Was it true the rapper was related to actress Gabrielle Union? According to Union herself, it was! "Her father and I are 1st cousins. Her grandma is my aunt Joanne Glass...#FunFact," she confirmed on social media.
And though their family ties are lowkey, they do seem to have a nice relationship with each other. Gab and Saweetie have taken to Instagram over time to share posts of their little family reunions, along with photos of each other and their respective partners spending time at Union's home.
Stacey & Damon Dash
While most people on this list have fairly close family relationships, the same can't be said for this next entry (though we're optimistic that might change). Introducing Clueless star Stacey Dash and Damon Dash, one of the founders of Roc-A-Fella Records, who happen to be first cousins.
These two family members came up together in the industry and always had each other's back. But recently, some internet controversies have kept them apart largely due to Stacey's opinions being circulated online. While Damon has since taken a step back from their family relationship, we hope it will be rekindled soon!
Steph & Seth Curry
We're sure many parents around the world would love it if their child became a famous athlete. But, for it to happen to two of them? Well, that's the case with Stephen "Steph" Curry, who plays for the NBA's Golden State Warriors, and his younger brother Seth of the Philadelphia 76ers.
One can't deny the talent that must run through their family, with both brothers having the kind of job that tons of young men and women can only dream of. We can't help but wonder if the brothers ever get competitive with one another. Hmm, hopefully, they got that out of their system while growing up, or keep it on the courts.
Sofia & Lionel Richie
Here we have the famous Richie family again. And though we know that Lionel is the adoptive father of Nicole Richie, not so many people know he also has a biological daughter, Sofia. Born via his wife, Diane Alexander, Sofia is a model and fashion designer and the younger sister of Nicole.
Interestingly, Sofia had a different upbringing to her older sis. "My dad is more strict because of my sister...I feel like now he's on the preventative side," she spoke candidly with Elle. "It's not like I'm doing anything bad, but he went through all that with Nicole, so he's just strict to prevent it from happening again."
Shaquille O’Neal & Bill Bellamy
When we discovered that the NBA icon Shaquille O'Neal and Bill Bellamy the stand-up comedian were second cousins, it made sense that both hailed from Newark, New Jersey! Bellamy was thrilled to share this connection, telling The News & Observer, "He's a big, loving guy. You see how massive he is, but he's just a big Teddy Bear."
He went on to share just how close his and Shaq's families are, saying, "We still do a lot of stuff together. Our kids play basketball together. My son is 12, and his younger son is 15. Our families have a blast hanging out." With Shaq on the sidelines, those must be some incredible game-filled reunions!
Diana Ross & Ashlee Simpson
If there's one Hollywood connection you didn't expect, surely it's Ashlee Simpson and Diana Ross! But don't beat yourself up for missing out on this juicy pop culture tidbit - they're related through marriage, not blood. That's because Ashlee is currently married to Diana's son, Evan Ross.
That’s right; Ross is Ashlee Simpson's mother-in-law! And Ashlee is also a sister-in-law to Tracee Ellis Ross, connecting the Simpson and Ross families in matrimony. We have to admit; it must be pretty intimidating being the daughter-in-law of a legend like Diana Ross.
Edwin & Aldis Hodge
Edwin and Aldis Hodge both came to fame in the film and TV industry, but they took different paths to get there. This might be why so many people are unaware that the two men grew up side by side in North Carolina, raised by their parents Basil Hodge and Yolette Evangeline Richardson.
Once moving out of their family home, both men went on to playa variety of roles on the big and small screens. Edwin is best known for acting in all three of the Purge horror movies, and Aldis is recognized via his starring role on the TNT show Leverage. In fact, Edwin once even joined his bro on set for an episode!
Viola Davis & Mike Colter
Throughout this list, we've learned about surprising celebrity relatives that we didn't know about. But this next one is unique because they didn't know they were related either! Unbelievably, actors Mike Colter and Viola Davis didn't find out that they were cousins until 2019.
In an interview with Essence, Colter said, "You know, honestly, we had never met, but our families have family reunions, and they talk about us." Since then, the two thespians have clearly made up for lost time, with Viola taking to social media with a tribute to her cousin on his birthday.
Julia & Emma Roberts
If you haven't already guessed it by their identical last name and strawberry blonde hair, Julia Roberts and Emma Roberts are related! Emma is actually Julia's niece, and was quite close to her famous aunt while she was growing up. And based on their social media accounts, we're pleased to see that connection still there today!
Maybe their closeness influenced young Emma to become an actor. Whether that's true or not, we're sure she was happy to be cast alongside aunt Julia in the 2010 film Valentine's Day. On an episode of the Queen Latifah Show, Emma revealed that she often visited her aunt on set as a child and loved to dress up in her costumes.
Debbie Allen & Phylicia Rashad
We don't blame you if you didn't know that these two iconic women are related. They have two different last names, but yes, Debbie Allen and Phylicia Rashad really are sisters! Rashad made a name for herself in the 80s on The Cosby Show, whereas Debbie came into the spotlight on Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Catherine Fox.
And if you look closely, you can see it too! Though their careers have taken different paths over the years, with Debbie also working as a dancer and choreographer, it's not hard to see how these two talented and hardworking sisters both found success on and off the screen.
Chris, Liam & Luke Hemsworth
If you thought the news of James and Dave Franco's third brother was fascinating, then you'll love this next entry. That's because heartthrob Australian actors Liam Hemsworth, of The Hunger Games, and Marvel maverick Chris Hemsworth, have a third brother: Luke.
Aside from being the third brother of the Hemsworth clan, Luke is best known for his role in HBO’s Westworld as Ashley Stubbs. We have no doubt that he'll soon grow to have the same levels of fame as his brothers, especially with that pair of stunning blue Hemsworth eyes.
Patti Labelle & Mariah Carey
Here we have another godmother and goddaughter relationship, this time in the music industry. And it's an unusual one too. Patti Labelle is the godmother of pop diva Mariah Carey, but she wasn't given the role when Mariah was born. Instead, the superstar asked Patti to take on the title herself.
Labelle recounted the story to Wendy Williams in 2010. "[Mariah] just asked me, and I said, 'Of course, you're my godchild,’" she beamed. When she later spoke of Mariah, Patti said: "That's my baby." If Labelle isn't #godmothergoals, we don't know who is!
Migos (Quavo, Offset, & Takeoff)
While we've talked about multiple family duos so far, now it's time to talk about a famous family trio. The wildly popular rap group, called Migos, consisted of three talented artists - until Takeoff's unfortunate passing in 2022. And these men were closer than friends - they were actually family.
Rappers Quavo and Offset are first cousins, and the late Takeoff was Offset's nephew. It seems it was only natural that they should start a group like this together, since they also grew up alongside one another and began playing music as a team of talent quite early. RIP Takeoff.
Liev & Pablo Schreiber
Just like the Wilson brothers, Liev and Pablo Schriber don't necessarily look incredibly similar, but if you look closely, you can see some resemblance that might have you asking questions. And that's exactly what moviegoers have been wondering for years. And yes, it's true, they're brothers!
These two actors share a father, Tell Carrol Schreiber, who was also an actor. Looks like the theater bug spread across generations in the Schreiber family! With 10 years between them in age, Liev and Pablo didn't have much to do with each other growing up, but they are reportedly still close as adults.
Ice Cube & O'Shea Jackson Jr.
O'Shea Jackson Jr. couldn't be happier to talk about his famous father, saying, "Being on set with my dad - that's so cool. People always ask me if that made me nervous, but it's the same element when you're a kid - when your parents come in the auditorium for those school performances. It calms you."
O'Shea's father is none other than the iconic rapper Ice Cube, who reportedly encourages his eldest to pursue a similar career in the film and music industries. And, when O'Shea appeared in the 2015 film Straight Outta Compton, playing none other than his own father, it was certainly viewed as a good start!
Omar & Cuba Gooding, Jr.
While you probably recognize the Jerry Maguire star Cuba Gooding, Jr., you may not be as familiar with his brother, Omar. Omar and Cuba actually burst into the film and TV industry together, largely due to being raised by their talented entertainer parents.
Cuba even got his first big break when dropped off a script to his brother, and was noticed by some talent scouts. Over the years, Cuba has starred in countless films like Boyz n the Hood and Daddy Daycare. Brother #2, Omar, is best known for his roles in Wild & Crazy Kids and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper.
JWoww & Giovanna Marie LaValle
Not all relatives are connected through blood! If you remember the seasons of the hit reality show Jersey Shore, then you know that housemates Snooki and JWoww were total BFFs. But what you may not know is that these days, they're also technically related! And it's all because of Snooki's first child, Giovanna Marie LaVelle.
When Nicole Elizabeth "Snooki" LaVelle gave birth, she didn't think twice and instantly named JWoww the godmother to her child. And Jennifer Lynn "JWoww" Farley accepted. Now that both women have kids of their own, they can often be seen out and about together with their families.
Steve & Wood Harris
Like any good big brother would, actor Steve Harris did his best to help his brother Wood achieve his career goals. It just so happened that the Harris boys had the same dream - to be a successful actor. And over the years, both siblings have done just that.
After all, both men studied TV and Film in University, showing that they were dedicated to their careers from the very beginning. And, we can't help but think that their mother Mattie, a seamstress, and father, John Harris, a bus driver, are extremely proud of how far their sons have come.
Mabel McVey & Neneh Cherry
If you've heard of the singer Mabel Alabama-Pearl McVey, you may wonder where she got her impressive vocal range from. Well, we're about to answer that question for you. Mabel is actually the youngest daughter of singer Neneh Cherry! And like many mothers and daughters, they've had a rocky relationship over the years.
But these days, we're happy to say that their relationship is on the up and up. Mabel even referenced her mother when she won the 2020 BRIT award for British Female Solo Artist. After all, Neneh did win her own BRITs 30 years before her daughter, and that called for a shout out!
Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady
You can hardly find a more inspiring family story than the one shared by cousins Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady. Not only did the two grow up together as children, but they also went to the same school before being drafted by the NBA. And no one could have expected them to be drafted to the same team, but that's what happened!
These two promising young upstarts played side-by-side on the court for the Toronto Raptors before McGrady moved to the San Antonio Spurs for a few years before retiring officially in 2013. Carter also made moves on his own, playing the last few seasons of his career with the Atlanta Hawks.
Barack Obama & Brad Pitt
Take one of the most popular U.S. Presidents in recent history and one of the most popular A-list actors, and what do you get? Well, according to the New England Historic Genealogical Society, you get cousins! That's right; Barack Obama and Brad Pitt have a distant ancestor, Edwin Hickman, making them 9th cousins.
Obama is a descendent of Edwin's son James, and Brad from his other son Edwin Jr. A representative of the New England Historic Genealogical Society named Christopher Child wrote, "If people have ancestors in a common part of the country, they will be more likely to find connections - in Obama and Pitt's case the South."
Da Brat & LisaRaye McCoy
If there's anything we have learned from our own lives, it's that families don't always get along (and that's okay)! A perfect example would be the rapper Da Brat, also known as Shawntae Harris, and actress LisaRaye McCoy, who are - spoiler alert - half-sisters!
These two talented women with their stunning high cheekbones, are the daughters of David Ray McCoy, a Chicago entrepreneur. They've had their fair share of drama over the years, but these days, their sibling bond seems to be back and stronger than ever.
Travie McCoy & Tyga
We love learning about surprise celebrity relatives, but we love it even more when they have a close relationship! And in the case of Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes' fame and rapper Tyga, that's definitely the case. The two performers have spent a lot of time together, and have even taken to the stage for dual performances!
In an interview with Young Hollywood, Travie explained that he actually watched his younger cousin grow up. And, he took it upon himself to give Tyga his fair share of gentle family lectures. "Stop buying jewelry and invest in better things," he reportedly nagged with love. We can only hope his cousin is taking that advice!
Melissa Gorga & Ralph Macchio
Prior to interviewing Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga, Andy Cohen took to Twitter to collect viewer questions for the latest guest on his show Watch What Happens Live. One viewer asked if Gorga really was related to actor Ralph Macchio, and she confirmed, tweeting, "Yes, we are!!"
Gorga went on to discuss her connection to the Karate Kid star with The Huffington Post, saying, "We are like really distant cousins. Never even met him...We always said it when we were little. It's like through marriage, my aunt Rosie." Here's to hoping that they cross paths one day!
Janet Jackson & Stevie Wonder
Imagine being a part of a family so talented that it includes Janet and Michael Jackson, AND Stevie Wonder! Well, these three iconic musical talents are, indeed, relatives. Stevie is cousins to the Jackson family, as Janet explained in an interview...
"People don't know this one; Stevie is actually our cousin on my mother's side," she said. Janet was even appointed to give Wonder an award during his induction into the NAACP Hall of Fame back in 2011, where she again mentioned her familial connection with the fellow singer.
Martin Lawrence & Christopher Martin
If you ever watched the '90s comedy film House Party, you may remember that stand-up comedian Martin Lawrence and rapper Christoper Martin appeared alongside each other. They played cousins on-screen, which is why this next bit of info might just blow your mind.
As it turns out, Lawrence and Martin had plenty of experience acting in this role because they are cousins in real life! How cool? We'll probably never get the chance to do that, but hey, at least we can still live vicariously through these talented family members.
Halle Berry & Sarah Palin
For some, finding out about a distant (and famous) relative would be a blessing. But for Halle Berry, that doesn't seem to be the case. "You wanna know who I'm related to? Sarah Palin…She may be on the tree, but she 'AINT invited to the cookout," the bewildered actress tweeted.
When she was pressed on the question, namely how they were related, Berry simply said, "Some twisted way." Unsurprisingly, Palin hasn't responded to the news. We may not understand exactly how these two are related, but we know one thing - there won't be any Berry-Palin family reunions any time soon.
Fantasia Barrino, K-CI, & JoJo
Fantasia Barrino is well known for her vocals, but her family background isn't necessarily spoken of. According to CNN, "Fantasia comes from a family of singers and musicians," possibly due to the success of her two cousins, K-CI and JoJo of the musical duo Jodeci.
The three performers are related through their fathers, who are brothers. If you're a big fan, you may already know that, seeing as though the trio has taken over the stage many times over the years. Particularly memorable was their performance at the 2018 Essence Festival.
Beyoncé Knowles & Bianca Lawson
You have to be living under a rock if you don't already know that Beyoncé Knowles and Solange are sisters. But we'll forgive you for not knowing that she also has a stepsister, who happens to be the actress Biana Lawson of Dawson's Creek and Save the Last Dance fame.
Even though they aren't blood-related, they both have the genetic luck of barely aging, and we are extremely jealous! We have no doubts that these two are trading skincare secrets over family dinners. Now we're wondering, how can we get in on the convo?
Chad & Syleena Johnson
We've talked about relatives in the music industry, and relatives in sports, but what about relatives in both? Well, former professional footballer Chad Johnson and his singing half-sister Syleena Johnson are exactly that because they share the same father, Syl Johnson.
Soon enough, as their careers progressed, some fans began to take notice of the connection between the two. "Yes, that's my sister; everybody knows that," Chad tweeted when people began pressing him for info. It may be common knowledge to diehard fans, but the general public was certainly taken by surprise.
Brody Jenner & Stormi Webster
Brody Jenner may like the limelight as much as his half and step-siblings, but he doesn't always know what's going on with his family. "I didn't even know [his half-sister Kylie] was pregnant for the entire pregnancy," he sheepishly told TMZ back in 2018. But to be fair, we didn't realize that Brody is Stormi's uncle until now!
Though there's no evidence that the little one has met her uncle yet, we have to assume that they will eventually be introduced at one of the many Kardashian-Jenner galas! Even with some of the family more distant than others, we're sure a big reunion is in the cards one of these years.
Baron Davis & Spike Lee
If you take a good look at basketball star Baron Davis and filmmaker Spike Lee, you may see a resemblance beyond their accessories. And there's very good reason for that, as they're second cousins. "Baron and I are 2nd cousins - Share Alabama roots," Lee explained in a Tweet.
This might also be the reason Davis began dabbling in film production, possibly taking a cue from his director cousin. Maybe it's time that Lee took to the courts to shoot some hoops? When it comes to switching careers, we're not sure who would walk away deemed the best takeover.
Nia Long & Sommore
This last item ends our list on a bit of a sad note, but there's hope yet for actress Nia Long and comedian and actress Sommore, also known as Lori Ann Rambough. Sommore has mentioned in the past that while she and Long were born from the same man, they are "Not necessarily sisters."
This is understandable, as neither woman grew up in the same home. In recent years a family tragedy seems to have brought them together; their father, Doughtry "Doc" Long passed away. Since then, the half-sisters have since spent more time together, with Nia declaring Sommore "The funny one in the family."
