Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth
Hollywood was completely shocked when power couple Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth announced their divorce. The Oscar winner and talent agent broke the news days before their 12th wedding anniversary.
The couple have one son together, Tennessee James. Witherspoon and Toth wrote in a joint statement on Instagram, "It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce." Just like Elle Woods said in her Harvard admissions essay video, we object!
Taylor Swift and Matty Healy
Less than a month after the news broke that these two singing superstars were dating, it was announced that they had broken up. Her breakup with the 1975 frontman Matty Healy came after another major split of hers, but more on that later. Things got hot and heavy quite quickly for Swift and Healy.
While they were together, Healy flew from the Philippines to see Taylor perform in Nashville during her Eras tour. In early June, it was reported that the two had called their romance off. A source told PEOPLE, "She had fun with him, but it was always casual. They are no longer romantically involved."
Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford
We wonder who was the "bad guy" in this breakup! Singer-songwriter Billie Eilish and The Neighbourhood frontman Jesse Rutherford called it quits in mid-May. While they only dated for less than a year, we were still sad about their breakup. Eilish told Vanity Fair that she was "really happy and excited" about what was then a blossoming relationship.
However, many criticized the age gap between them. There was a ten-year age difference, but the couple didn't seem to mind. They even made fun of the criticisms by dressing up as a baby and an old man for their Halloween costume. A rep for the Ocean Eyes singer told PEOPLE that they "split amicably and remain good friends."
Alex Pettyfer and Toni Garrn
After nearly two years of marriage, model Toni Garrn announced her divorce from actor Alex Pettyfer through her Instagram stories. She wrote, "Alex and I have made the very difficult decision to divorce. We will continue our relationship as friends and co-parents to our angel Luca."
She continued to write, "Please respect our privacy during this sensitive time. Thank you." Our hearts are breaking for the pair, who started dating back in 2018 and had a beautiful wedding in Hamburg, Germany, Garrn's hometown. Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied
Natalie Portman and her husband, Benjamin Millepied, are hitting a rough patch after 11 years of marriage. Why? Well, there were rumors about Benjamin's affair with a young climate activist. Despite the drama, Natalie was determined to save their marriage for their two kiddos.
According to Us Weekly, she thought Benjamin's fling was just a "brief and stupid liaison" that meant nothing. But she was pretty bummed out, feeling "humiliated" and unsure if she could rebuild her trust in him. Currently, they're trying to work things out. Let's hope they manage to mend things for their family's sake.
Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky
Their story was epic. The pair met at a nightclub in 1994 and went on to get married and have three daughters together. The world met the couple when Richards was part of the original cast for Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Over the years, viewers saw how much they loved each other.
They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 2021. However, it was announced they are separating, per PEOPLE. A source told the outlet, "Kyle and Mauricio have been separated for a while now but are still living under the same roof. They remain amicable as they figure out what's next for them and their family."
Jeremy Allen White and Addison Timlin
Sometimes breakups come out of nowhere, and that's what seemed to happen with Jeremy Allen White and his wife of over three years, Addison Timlin. The Bear actor talked about Timlin during his Golden Globes acceptance speech, saying, "...I love you deep in my bones, thank you for all that you do..."
However, according to documents acquired by Us, Timlin filed for divorce on May 11. This relationship is a long history that's coming to an end. The pair met when they starred in the 2008 film Afterschool, and Timlin has been by his side as her hubby has skyrocketed into fame. They share two daughters, Ezer and Dolores.
Elle Fanning and Max Minghella
Elle Fanning and Max Minghella met on the set of Teen Spirit. From there, sparks flew for the duo. Paparazzi snapped photos of them strolling around London together, and they made their official debut as a couple at the 2019 Met Gala. Despite being together for four years, they were pretty private about their relationship.
It was only during an interview with Harper's Bazaar UK that the actress confirmed the pair split up. Nevertheless, Fanning remained optimistic, saying, "But I'm a hopeless romantic. I believe in love at first sight. Call me crazy, but I believe in those things. I feel that it's my destiny."
