We finally know who we're going to call! Well, one of them at least. After Jason Reitman announced he was going to direct a reboot of the original Ghostbusters, the film his father Ivan Reitman directed back in the 80's, fans were pretty psyched, but that was before any word about who might be in the cast leaked. Now, fans of the franchise, and comedy in general, have plenty more to celebrate because in a Twitter post on Thursday, Paul Rudd himself announced he would be joining the iconic franchise.
Rudd is known for his roles in comedies like The 40 Year Old Virgin and Anchorman, but he's recently found mega-stardom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ant-Man. With his comedic background, you'd have to imagine the return to a zany comedy like this one is hopefully going to be a welcome return to form for the actor. Plus, he seems plenty excited about it himself, making the announcement directly to the fans from the original fire house that served as the Ghostbusters' own headquarters in the films. No one on the street seems to realize who he is, allowing him to take his time with the announcement. And thankfully he doesn't get recognized at any point in the video, because at the end he, uh, slimes himself.
The new Ghostbusters is set to hit theaters in summer of 2020.
