Mindy Kaling's proven to be a comedic queen, but this time she threw her fans for a loop after announcing that she just gave birth to her second child. She welcomed her son into the world in September but kept her entire pregnancy a secret until this past weekend.
She shared the news on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and viewers couldn't believe what they were hearing. This iconic comedian had managed to keep the births of both her children a secret, without ever giving us a clue.
"I got something I rarely get these days, which is good news, so if you wouldn't mind sharing with our audience, I think they'd be thrilled to find out something extraordinary that nobody knows up until this moment," said Colbert. "Yes, I'm telling it for the first time now... But I gave birth to a baby boy on 3 September," Kaling revealed.
When asked why she's kept her daughter's image completely private, Mindy explained, "My feeling is that, until I speak to my daughter about that, I'm not going to talk to anyone else about it." However, she's been very open about being a mother in general.

#imvotingfor my daughter Kit. I want her to grow up with leaders who think and speak with integrity. Who show that measured and thoughtful responses are not a sign of weakness. I want her to see that her elected leaders can be the children of immigrants, as her mom is. But most importantly, I want her to see a President and Vice President whose capacity for empathy is their greatest quality. @joebiden @kamalaharris Who are you voting for @ramonabishyoung, @leerodriguezz and @richamoorjani? Ever since announcing the birth of her 2-year-old daughter, Katharine, Kaling's been making hilarious and relatable jokes about parenthood. She embraces the reality of raising a child and has given so many other parents the chance to take a step back and laugh at their everyday lives.
Although she hasn't shared many details about either of her children, Kaling assured her fans that both kids are happy and healthy, and Katharine is still adjusting to the idea of having a little brother. "She was very worried about her toys getting taken," Mindy joked. We can't wait to hear more about Kaling's journey as a mother, including the many jokes that come along with it.
