Let's talk about what everyone else seems to be talking about - Martin Scorsese and TikTok. As it turns out, the iconic director didn't exactly plan to go viral on the social media platform – he got "tricked" into the situation by his 24-year-old daughter, Francesca.
The TikTok videos aren't exactly Scorsese's usual cinematic masterpieces. They involve him guessing slang words and ranking movies with brackets – those things that have become a viral sensation and introduced Gen Z to the legendary director. Francesca would catch Scorsese off-guard or just film him during his everyday routines. As he puts it, "I'm at home doing things, and she comes up to me and says, 'Dad, look over here and tell me this.' So I'm in my pajamas…She said, 'Well, it's a thing they're doing.' Who's they? She says, 'Everybody's doing it. It's a thing called TikTok.'" And thus, one of the world's greatest motion pictures masterminds was introduced to the internet's leading video-sharing platform. And hilarity ensued...
But what makes all of this even more hilarious is that, most of the time, Scorsese isn't even aware when the videos are being posted. "That I didn't know was going up. I was just doing it in the other room with her. I don't know what they're going to do. They always have those iPhone cameras in their hands. You're not aware. I honestly did not know she was going to post it…They use the words 'post it,' right?" LOL.
