2020 saw the release of Lady Gaga's highly anticipated Chromatica album. Featuring star-studded hits with the likes of Elton John, Ariana Grande, and Blackpink, the album was firing on all cylinders. Adding to the family of collabs, the Rain On Me singer announced back in December that she and Oreos have partnered up to produce her final hit of the album. Only this time, she was taking an out-of-the-box initiative by making it for our mouths, instead of our ears.
"This collab is inspired by the world of Chromatica, where kindness rules all things,” said Lady Gaga on the release of her collab with Oreos. “I love these pink cookies with green creme, and hope they brighten your day as much as they do mine!” Labeling the cookies "CHROMATICA X OREOS" making the Chromatica hashtag trend once again on Twitter with the help of her Little Monsters.
Oreos itself also joined by adding its take on the release. “Over the last few years, music has become a key element of our purpose to spread more joy and playfulness in the world through partnerships and entertainment properties alike."Added Oreo's U.S. Senior Director Justin Parnell. "We’re absolutely thrilled over our newest collaboration with one of the biggest pop culture icons of a generation. Together with Lady Gaga, we cannot wait to unleash her world of Chromatica on our OREO cookie and encourage fans to spread musical messages of kindness to create a brighter and more connected country.”
Besides the fact that pretty much everything Gaga touches turns into viral gold, the Oreos themselves seem to speak for their own. The neon green and pink colors of the cookies were the main topics of debate as some of the surfers of the online world shared their doubts. Mainly being wary of the dye and whether the cookies would taste like an artificial mess, the user's doubts were pleasantly answered. Sporting a vanilla zest and an even crunchier cookie wafer - countless reviews of the cookies were uploaded in the past few days alone on social media documenting the experience.
Another thing that is worth mentioning is that these little cookies are vegan which totally fits Mother G's concept of inclusivity which we all know and love. After winning female artist, song, and collaboration of the year, the Oreo addition marked a colorful end to the Chromatica year of 2020. For now, we will be tuning in to see what else Gaga will deliver to us in the future. Until then, you can get your cookies here.
