The Venice International Film Festival got a little steamy this past weekend thanks to co-stars Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac. The two actors were caught getting cozy on the red carpet in Venice and have since become a viral sensation. Now, Chastain finally explained the hilarious story behind the famous moment.
For those who haven't seen the clips, photographers at the red carpet captured a slo-mo shot of Oscar Isaac kissing Jessica Chastain's inner arm while the two posed for pictures. The content spread like wildfire on the internet as people suspected that there was a little more going on than just on-screen chemistry. And while the theories were all made in good fun, the Scenes From a Marriage star decided to clarify the events once and for all.
Jessica Chastain popped by NBC's Today to put the rumors to bed and laugh at the whole situation. "Let me just say, though, this is a slow-motion video, and everybody is super sexy in slow motion," the 44-year actress explained jokingly. "He kind of goes to give me a peck on my elbow, and at the same time, I'm going to give him a hug. So all of a sudden, his face ends up in my armpit," Chastain continued.
With the play-by-play out of the way, Jessica shared her thoughts on why she felt that moment had become so viral in the first place. "We have all been locked in our houses for so long. When this video went viral, I was like, 'People just need to see people touch and hold each other,'" the actress said.
In the midst of all the press, Jessica also caught the attention of one of Hollywood's leading funny women, Mindy Kaling. The Never Have I Ever creator poked fun at Jessica in her Instagram comments, writing, "Why is Oscar Isaac the only person allowed to kiss your inner arm," to which Chastain responded, "don't hate lol."
Safe to say that this viral moment caught the attention of many people this past week. Stay tuned for more of the internet's funniest moments coming your way.
