Ah, the joys of the internet. In this day and age, we've seen just about everything, haven't we all? Only we hadn't. On Wednesday, January 20th, as Washington D.C. welcomed its latest, star-studded Inauguration Day, the internet did too, and you can bet it was nothing short of entertaining. Seriously, you're going to want to see this for yourself.

First up on our roster of meme-worthy Inauguration moments? A pair of fuzzy mittens. Yep, you read that right. The face behind the now-viral pair of gloves? None other than Bernie Sanders, take what you want from that. Who would've thought that a simple beige parka and set of knit accessories would morph Bernie into an overnight sensation?

The Twitterverse, of course, because, well, why not? But don't think the online world stopped there. After viewers were done getting a kick out of Mr. Sanders' Inauguration gear (which we were totally here for, by the way), Lady Gaga quickly took his place hijacking on our feeds - though there were no Moon landings or Subway rides involved.

That's right, instead, the Rain on Me singer volunteered as tribute, as spectators quickly likened her Inauguration Day looks to those from galaxies - or should we say, green screens - far, far away. Go ahead and have a look for yourself. Are you seeing what we're seeing?

Of course, then there was the little handshake that literally left the internet going wild. That's right, it might not have been much, but it was enough to have the Twitterverse in shams. After all, it's not everyday that you see the former President of the United States fist bumping the newly elected Vice President, huh?

Safe to say, Inauguration Day certainly did not disappoint this time around. As for what other tricks those behind the keyboard have got up their sleeves for the rest of us? We guess we'll have to wait and find out...
