Red carpet snaps of our favorite stars are always exciting to see. But sometimes, unexpected moments make them even more amusing. Here are some of the most entertaining photobombs in Hollywood history.
Christina Applegate
As Leslie Mann began to pose in front of the poster for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, her co-star Christina Applegate had other plans. As seen below, the hilarious actress snuck behind her to join in on the fun.
Christina didn't put too much thought into posing for the picture. With Mann's back to her, the Samantha Who? star looked at the cameras and put up some bunny ears behind her fellow actress. Looking at how the picture turned out, we're hoping Mann wasn't too bummed about the failed photo opp!
Oscar Isaac
When it comes to interrupting one's focus, Adam Driver is no easy target. In this hilarious photo, he remained consistently focused as he posed for the camera during the world premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens - despite an imminent threat that was behind him.
Oscar Isaac, who portrayed Poe Dameron in the sci-fi flick, appeared to form his hand into a fist behind his co-star, with a hilarious expression on his face, as though mustering up the strength to ambush him. By the looks of it, we have no doubt that the Force was certainly with Adam Driver that night.
Jack Black
We're not sure what gave Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman the idea to photobomb Angelina Jolie in front of all these photographers - but we're sure glad they did! And, come to think of it, we're pretty certain that no two celebrities could have done it better.
The expression on their faces makes it a whole lot funnier, too. Hoffman - the voice behind Master Shifu in Kung Fu Panda - maintains a straight face, while Jack Black - the voice of Po - displays a face as eccentric as his character in the comedy. Iconic.
Emma Stone
Emma Stone was apparently feeling a little goofy on the opening-night party of Mike Bartlett's play Bull. She attended the party along with her then-boyfriend and co-star Andrew Garfield. As her boyfriend posed with Eleanor Matsuura and Neil Stuke, she felt the need to spice things up a bit.
The Magic in the Moonlight star crept up behind the group and made her face visible just between Garfield and Stuke - who remained completely unaware of her presence in the photo. In our opinion, it wouldn't have been complete without her. Imagine photobombing Spider-Man!
Cara Delevingne
When Cara Delevingne saw Sienna Miller make her way gracefully onto the red carpet at the 2013 Costume Institute Gala, she definitely believed she saw an opportunity. Jumping into the picture behind Miller, Delevingne turned what would have been an ordinary picture into something a little more special.
Whether it's for a photoshoot or a photobomb, award-winning model Cara Delevingne has proven that she knows how to pose for the cameras. The hilarious expression she made by sticking her tongue out and raising her eyebrows was made even funnier when juxtaposed with Miller's more serious face.
Joe Jonas
Many times, it's the youngest child who loves to make trouble for older siblings - but apparently, the Jonas brothers do things the other way around. As Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato posed for a picture together at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards, Joe decided to give their snap a hilarious twist.
Instead of minding his own business, the Cake By the Ocean artist - who sat behind his brother and ex-girlfriend Lovato - leaned forward as the two were taking a picture and made a wide-eyed expression with his eyebrows raised and his mouth slightly open.
Justin Timberlake
No other woman can take his wife's spot on the podium - but that didn't stop Timberlake from doing it himself. Jessica Biel, who's been married to Justin since 2012, stole the spotlight at the 2017 Oscars, and clearly, the My Love singer just wasn't having it. LOL.
Timberlake hilariously lurked behind his wife as she elegantly posed in her sparkly, golden gown for the camera. When Biel realized her husband was posing behind her, she couldn't help but laugh. In our opinion, Justin Timberlake deserved an Oscar just for his goofy stunt.
Kelly Clarkson
Fans of The Ellen Degeneres Show are familiar with the host's expertise when it comes to having her crew silently creep up behind celebrities to scare them on her show. But it looks like the roles were reversed at the 2013 Grammy Awards when Ellen posed for a photo.
The Stronger singer was able to sneak herself into a picture behind Ellen, who posed for a photo with her wife, Portia de Rossi. Clarkson's goofy pose, with her jaw open, hilariously ruined Ellen's cool, casual vibe when she popped out from behind the 64-year-old comedian.
Susan Sarandon
Susan Sarandon apparently decided to go right ahead and join the Straight Outta Compton crowd at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2016. As the boys posed for a picture, the 75-year-old actress decided to fill in a sixth spot in the group photo, between Jason Mitchell and Neil Brown, Jr.
The hilarious photo featured the cast of the movie, who all play members of the gangster rap group N.W.A, with the 69-year-old actress looking slightly out of place. One of the more legendary photobombs to ever happen on the red carpet, if ya ask us.
KJ Apa
At the Teen Choice Awards in 2018, this Riverdale actor apparently couldn't help third-wheeling co-stars Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart - who dated in 2017. At first glance, nothing in the picture doesn't seem out of the ordinary, but after taking a closer look...
KJ Apa's hilarious "evil smile" expression is just visible in between the unsuspecting couple, who casually posed for a photo as they sat in the audience. Although the cast took home several awards that evening, we think the biggest winner of the night was photobomber KJ Apa.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson
All it took was a quick leap in front of the cameras for the Modern Family star to create one of the most hilarious photobombs in history. Jesse Tyler Ferguson seemed to be on some secret mission when he decided to jump behind Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr at the 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar party.
Bloom and Kerr, who were married from 2010 to 2013, elegantly posed for a photo at the party. Ferguson appeared to jump into the picture out of nowhere as the couple continued to smile for the camera. Maybe he was a little too excited to see them, but we think it was hilarious.
Sarah Hyland
The Modern Family actress hilariously photobombed her on-screen mom, Julie Bowen, as she posed for a photo with Angie Harmon at the ELLE's Annual Women in Television Celebration in 2015. And the picture turned out slightly different than the photographer had originally planned.
In the photo, Hyland, who plays Haley Dunphy on Modern Family, seemed to be enjoying herself in the background. She brought quite a lot of fun to the picture, and the outcome was pretty amusing. By the looks of it, we're guessing Claire Dunphy didn't mind her daughter's troublemaking behavior that night.
Usher
Leave it to Usher to steal the spotlight from the one and only Kim Kardashian. The artist stood on the red carpet behind the 41-year-old reality star at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards - sporting a pair of sunglasses and a rather cheeky smile on his face.
Kim Kardashian's patterned Balmain dress and hourglass figure definitely stood out on the red carpet that day. But the DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love singer clearly wasn't about to let her have all the attention. Bible, this hilarious photobomb is bound to go down in the history books.
Lupita Nyong'o
At the 2014 Academy Awards, the Black Panther actress likely jumped in to congratulate fellow winner Jared Leto on the first Oscar of his career. But the expression on her face appeared to be a bit more spooky than it did celebratory as she jumped out from behind just as the camera snapped the photo.
But the 50-year-old Dallas Buyers Club star was probably too thrilled about winning his first Oscar to even notice Nyong'o. Nonetheless, our hilarious photobomber also won an Oscar that night - Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave.
Adam Lambert
Adam Lambert decided to have a little fun with the fans at the 19th Annual Miami Make-A-Wish Ball. A group of three women decided to take a selfie with the stage behind them, not knowing that the 40-year-old singer was about to give the photo a major upgrade!
As the women huddled together for the photo with big smiles on their faces, the Ghost Town singer snuck up behind them with the microphone in one hand and a bunny ears sign in the other. We're pretty sure the fans were thankful he felt free to hop into their selfie.
Samuel L. Jackson
Samuel L. Jackson, who plays the high-ranking agent alongside Vin Diesel in xXx, is determined to show he's always got his co-star's back - staying right by his side even at the premiere of the 2002 film. The actor hilariously photobombed Diesel as he posed for a picture, below.
In the photo, he appeared to be peeking out from behind Vin Diesel, who apparently tried to look suave for the camera, making an "X" sign with his index fingers. The goofy look on Jackson's face, which appeared right next to Diesel's smile, made the picture even funnier.
George Clooney
At a New York City Gala for the USC Shoah Foundation, George Clooney came across the opportunity to join Steven Spielberg, Jessica Seinfeld, and Jerry Seinfeld for a photo. Except, the Seinfelds and Mr. Spielberg weren't aware that he made an appearance in the photo behind them.
Clooney can be seen hilariously standing behind them, wide-eyed with his hand out, as they smile at the cameras. Aside from taking part in the fun photobomb, the 60-year-old Gravity star received the Ambassador for Humanity Award at the Gala for his philanthropic work.
Rami Malek
Portia Doubleday was posing for the cameras when her Mr. Robot co-star decided he wanted in on the photoshoot that was taking place. While Doubleday was busy looking good for the cameras, 40-year-old Malek was busy finding the right moment to step into the shot with her.
The hilarious photobomb went down at Television Academy's 70th Anniversary Gala in 2016, where they were joined by co-stars Christian Slater and Carly Chaikin. Although Malek did steal focus from Doubleday for just a few seconds, we're guessing the co-stars had a laugh about it later.
Timothee Chalamet
26-year-old Little Women star Timothee Chalamet saw an opportunity to photobomb the director of the 2019 film. At the world premiere of the movie, he jumped right behind Greta Gerwig, who was smiling for what she thought would be just another red carpet picture.
The director posed for the cameras, wearing an elegant black, strapless dress with silver butterfly patterns on it. Meanwhile, Chalamet slid into the photo smoothly with both hands formed into a peace sign. The way we see it, the photobomb just made the picture even more perfect.
Jared Leto
Who said photobomb victims can't be the ones doing the photobombing? The Blade Runner star decided to have some fun of his own at the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. And we think he definitely should have won an Oscar for it. The 50-year-old troublemaker showed everyone at the event how it's done.
He hilariously slid into a shot with producer James W. Skotchdopole and other guests at the event. Arms spanned out, with a surprised expression on his face, Leto stole the spotlight as he photobombed Skotchdopole's snap with guests after being awarded Best Picture for the movie Birdman.
Benedict Cumberbatch
The Oscars seem to be a popular place for celebrities to mess around. This time, the victims were none other than the rock band U2, who gathered for a photo together at the 86th Annual Academy Awards. There to jump right into the shot was Benedict Cumberbatch.
The 12 Years A Slave star raised his arms as he stood behind the group, with his finger spread out and a hilarious expression on his face. Although it was the band who was nominated for the Oscar that night, it was definitely Cumberbatch's photobomb that stole the show.
Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt decided to bring a little humor to the set during a photocall to promote Once Upon a Tim in Hollywood. As his co-star, Oscar-nominated actress Margot Robbie was posing for the cameras, he decided to make a last-second appearance in her shot.
In the photo, Pitt appears to be in the middle of a leap across the set, interrupting the shoot. But it doesn't seem like Robbie, who was wearing a white, long-sleeve dress, was too annoyed by the prank. Instead, Pitt had her laughing, just like we were when we saw the photo.
Channing Tatum
Channing Tatum usually manages to keep a straight face during movie premieres. And apparently, even does so when he's in the middle of a prank. At the premiere for Magic Mike XXL, it looks like the actor decided to have a little fun with his co-star.
As Joe Manganiello posed for a photo, wearing a grey suit, Channing Tatum appeared to shadow him, wearing a matching color. What makes the picture even funnier is that Tatum's expression is somewhat indifferent, as though nothing unusual is going. LOL.
Kevin Spacey
Most of us know that feeling we get when we think we're being watched. But it looks like these two celebrities had no idea! As they posed for a picture, Matthew Perry and Conan O'Brien looks like they were joined by a third face that was lurking behind them.
Standing in the shadows behind them was House of Cards star Kevin Spacey, who couldn't resist making a hilarious frowning face at the camera. Matthew Perry, who starred in the comedy sitcom Friends, and talk show host Conan O'Brien didn't seem to be aware of the iconic prank.
The Fiji Water Girl
Okay, so this one isn't a celebrity - but the Fiji Water Girl did earn celebrity status during her time at 2019 Golden Globe Awards. The victim of this hilarious photobomb was Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden, who apparently didn't notice the woman who walked right into his shot.
And even though she wasn't a guest at the event, that didn't stop her from giving the camera a sly smile! Carrying a tray of Fiji water bottles, she stopped just behind Madden and posed for the camera. One of the most unexpected photobombs to happen on the red carpet!
Candace Cameron Bure
This fan who asked to take a picture with one of her favorite TV stars got a little more than what she wished for that day. As John Stamos posed for a selfie with the fan at the 2017 Kids' Choice Awards, Candace Cameron Bure decided to hop right in and join them.
The Fuller House star saw the selfie being taken and couldn't resist being a part of it. We definitely don't blame her! Bure is seen posing for the picture while holding up a peace sign. We're guessing the young fan couldn't believe her luck when she looked at the pictures on her phone later on!
The Fiji Water Girl, Again
There she is, at it again! The woman handing out Fiji water bottles at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards didn't hesitate to walk right into the shot while celebrities were having their pictures taken. This time, she photobombed actors Judith Light and Connie Britton.
The star of The To Do List was posing for a picture with the Ugly Betty actress, when the Fiji woman happened to pass through behind them. And although the woman wasn't a celebrity when she arrived at the event, it's safe to say she likely was one when she left.
Kiernan Shipka
Kiernan Shipka brought this hilarious photobomb to life when she appeared to sneak into a shot being taken of her Chilling Adventures of Sabrina co-star. As Ross posed for a photo in a dark red suit, Shipka didn't hesitate to linger in the background.
She sneaked up on her on-screen ex-boyfriend as he stood in front of the camera, holding one hand in the other and carrying a hilarious smile on her face. Shipka and Lynch's hilarious photobomb took place at the premiere of the Netflix series in 2018.
A White Pigeon
Okay fine - another non-celebrity photobomber on our list. But although this one may not have an elite status in Hollywood, it photobombed two of the world's most famous people: members of the British Royal Family. Here's a little peek at how the photobomb happened:
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were being photographed taking a drive in their car when a white pigeon was apparently brave enough to fly right through the shot. The picture turned out to be quite hilarious - imagine photobombing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle!
Jack Black
Leave it to Jack Black to take any moment and turn it into something hilarious. At the premiere of IFC Films' The D Train, he apparently felt a little left out when his co-stars, James Marsden and Kathryn Hahn, posed for a photo and decided to remedy the situation.
He took matters into his own hands and hilariously made an appearance in the picture, peeking over Marsden's shoulder in the shot. His co-stars were apparently unaware that Black had joined them, but he didn't seem to mind. We thought the final result was too hilarious not to share.
