When it comes to acting, there's a fine line between a hit and miss. Straight from the tell-it-like-it-is sources of IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, we're sharing the actors and actresses that have been listed as some of the least favored in Hollywood.
Tommy Wiseau
After Tommy Wiseau wrote, produced, and acted in his 2003 movie, The Room, he landed in the #1 spot on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. With many ratings of 1/10, the flick was even called "Craptastic" by one critic.
Rotten Tomatoes user Felix Vasquez Jr. describes the film as "A movie so bad, so inept, so unbelievably painful, it's almost impossible to comprehend anyone thought it would be great on-screen." This could have led to the movie's 3.7/10 rating on IMDb, with particular attention put on Wiseau's alleged confusing and inconsistent roles.
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Although Jennifer Love Hewett sits lower, at #66 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List, she has earned the rare distinction of never making a "fresh," or, above 60% film, according to critics. The actress has an average Rotten Tomatoes score of only 18.9%, thanks to several poorly-rated movies.
Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (7%) and 2005's The Truth About Love (0%) are just a couple of examples. But, according to Rotten Tomatoes, her part in 1997's I Know What You Did Last Summer was her worst career role thus far, warranting a 43% likely thanks to "Diehard fans of the genre."
Chuck Norris
Although he has a large fan base due to his agile karate and martial-arts moves, according to Slate and Rotten Tomatoes, Chuck Norris has been voted as The Worst Rated Actor. Many movie critics believe this could be due to unevenly divided energy and effort between body and voice acting abilities.
With an average Rotton Tomatoes rating of 18.4% and critics' comments such as "Norris again fails to find a niche for his limited talent," it's no wonder he ended up at #36 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. While we know what these critics think, we wonder if we'll be seeing Norris' jabs on the screen again soon.
Ruby Rose
After she appeared in John Wick: Chapter 2 and TV shows such as Orange Is the New Black and Batwoman, Ruby Rose's acting abilities came under fire. In 2019, she starred as Batwoman in her admitted dream role, but the Aussie actress soon left the production.
While Rotten Tomatoes rated the series 84%, the average audience score was only 16%. In fact, the critic section for the film is riddled with negative comments. "Just Bad. Really. Just spare the time and watch something else," one viewing-fanatic warned.
Jamie Kennedy
At #2 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List for his role in Son of the Mask, Jamie Kennedy only earned a 6% rating from Rotten Tomatoes. Many viewers wondered why the film was created and described it as "Terrible, awful, extremely bad, and horrible." Their advice for Jamie? "Stop experimenting with bad movie scripts."
Kennedy's IMDb biography lists one of his famous quotes as, "I think anybody can be a good actor." But, it seems many viewers of his work in this particular movie disagree entirely. Ironically, his next film, currently in pre-production, is called Don't Suck. No pressure, right?
Gwyneth Paltrow
Daughter of producer and director Bruce Paltrow and award-winning actress Blythe Danner, Gwyneth Paltrow has unfortunately received some low ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Several of her movies, including Mortdecai, rated a mere 12%, and others have confused many Hollywood film and TV lovers.
Although she has one Oscar on her resume, Paltrow's early role in View From the Top warranted several negative Rotten Tomatoes critic reviews. "Miss Paltrow? We're gonna need that Oscar back," one critic wrote. Common Sense Media's Nell Minow even commented, "What was Gwyneth Paltrow thinking?"
Owen Wilson
Wow! Many fans of Owen Wilson have voiced opinions on platforms such as Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb that he is unable to play any characters on the big screen that aren't himself. Whether he's trying to portray a serious mood or not, many believe that his silliness shines through too much to take him seriously at all.
Wilson is often cast in "Weirdo" roles or as his goofy self, such as in The Royal Tenenbaums, Wedding Crashers, Hall Pass, and Meet the Fockers, making it hard for a lot of viewers to see him in any other light. While many might vibe with a different sense of humor, IMDb lists him as one of their worst actors.
Madonna
As a musician, she's arguably been a queen since the '80s. But as an actress, critics have described Madonna's acting as unfavorable. Robert Ebert from the Chicago Sun-Times actually advised against seeing her movie, Body of Evidence, completely. In fact, he labeled it as one of his "Most hated movies of all time."
According to IMDb, the movie that landed her the #35 spot on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List was 1996's Evita. Although it was rated 63% on Rotten Tomatoes and 6.3/10 on IMDb, unfortunately, what critic Tim Brayton calls Madonna's "Wholly artificial and forced performance" is what must have landed her on the list.
David Hasselhoff
David Hasselhoff's role in the swimsuit-filled movie Baywatch landed him at #49 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. The movie was rated 5.3/10 by IMDb, with reviews of less than impressive by many. User Kyrycek19 commented, "David Hasselhoff [was] repulsive, a lousy actor and an even worse singer," on IMDb.
If comments like that weren't enough, Rotten Tomatoes rated the film only 18%, while its audience score reached 69%. Not everyone adores Hasselhoff's singing voice, but according to reviews, many of his fans believe his later roles redeemed his reputation after Baywatch.
Bo Derek
Bo Derek starred in the 1984 movie Bolero, but unfortunately, the production landed her a spot on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List at #37. With many IMDb reviews commenting on her ability to play the role well, she also received negative criticism.
"Bo Derek is a total airhead that can't even act," one user commented. Another pointed out that Derek won several awards for Bolero, but unfortunately, they probably weren't what she was expecting to walk away with. In fact, along with several awards for worsts, Bo won the Worst Actress Golden Raspberry Award.
Jaden Smith
Many critics have said that Smith hasn't had a good movie role since his acting debut alongside his father in the Pursuit of Happyness. Rotten Tomatoes then rated Jaden's movie After Earth 11% and ultimately deemed it dull, as it wasn't a good representation of a sci-fi film.
Critic Richard Propes of theindependentcritic.com rated the movie 0.5/4. He commented, "The memory of After Earth is so painful that I still feel like my eyes are burning." The film was torn apart due to Jaden's performance leading many critics to outwardly wonder if he will ever perform well on the big screen again.
Brigitte Nielsen
Actress, model and singer, Brigitte Nielen sits at #38 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List, but why? Well, according to one IMDb critic, "[No one] ever liked admitting they enjoyed a movie with Brigitte." In 1985's Red Sonja, Nielen played a sword-fighting warrior, but not everyone enjoyed seeing her on the big screen.
So, what's the big deal with Neilsen? Well, according to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie itself was described as dull with an unfortunate cast. In addition, many critics believe the film and Brigitte's role both lack the "uumph" that a warrior action movie is widely expected to include.
Shaquille O'Neal
Many fans of Shaquille O'Neal believe he knows what he's doing on the basketball court, but when it comes to acting, some aren't so sure. One critic even said, "Shaquille O'Neil should be legally barred from acting." after viewing his leading role in 1997's Steel.
This film is often cited as the reason O'Neal landed his #24 spot on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. Many other critics also shared their opinions that the basketball player simply cannot act, so it seems like the 2.9/10 review that Steel received is a rather popular opinion.
Megan Fox
Model and actress Megan Fox is ranked #47 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List for her role in 2007's Transformers. The movie overall was scored a 58% by the Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes, and an impressive 85% by the audience.
But it received a 3/10 by IMDb user, Nielad. They explained, "Megan Fox, who, besides the horrible acting, loses points for actually saying, 'Sam, whatever happens, I'm glad I got in the car with you.'" Neilad then called Fox's line a "Homage to every poorly delivered, cheese ball romance line in the history of cinema."
Rob Schneider
Peter Debruge from the Miami Herald scored Rob Schneider's acting a 0/4 on Rotton Tomatoes and left a review on the movie, saying Rob's "Shtick still amounts to little more than shameless self-depreciation." This could be, in part, a reason he is on IMDb's list.
Schneider was voted #5 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List for his role in Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo. The movie was given a 4.7/10 by IMDb and 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Paul Arendt from BBC described the actor's role in it as "Moronic and repulsive."
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton is known internationally as a businesswoman and entrepreneur by many. Still, when she starred in The Hottie & The Nottie, it only scored 1.9/10 on IMDb. It soon became apparent that acting might be lower on the list of Hilton's talents when she ranked #7 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List.
IMDb reviews call Hilton's acting "Zombie-like" and dense. With countless IMDb user reviews of 1/10 on this film, it became clear to countless movie fanatics that this flick might not be worth any hype it may have gotten back in 2008 when it was released.
Tom Green
Canadian actor and producer Tom Green is widely known for his 2001 Freddy Got Fingered role, but not necessarily in the brightest light. Danny Graydon from BBC rated the movie 1/5 and called it "Embarrassing, offensive, and resoundingly pointless."
In addition, Rotten Tomatoes rated Freddy Got Fingered a score of only 10%, and Marc Savlov from the Austin Chronicle also gave it a low rating at 0/5. Unfortunately, Savlov thought Green's movie was "Witless, dull, and oh-so-predictably offensive."
Kaley Cuoco
Actress and producer Kaley Cuoco cemented her place in the Hollywood spotlight as Penny in The Big Bang Theory, but, unfortunately, not everyone loved what she brought to the table. With her acting debut back in 1992 in the movie Quicksand: No Escape, she has certainly come a long way.
An IMDb critic described her infamous role of Penny as "The stereotypical s*x driven blonde," which doesn't exactly sound like a compliment. Nevertheless, many of her characters throughout the years have landed her a spot on IMDb's list, with critics commenting that they wished she'd brought more to the table.
Chris Tucker
After once being the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, Chris Tucker now finds himself at #16 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List for his role in Rush Hour 2. While the movie was rated 6.6/10 on IMDb, Tucker's acting has caused plenty of arguments for movie fanatics who wished for more cohesiveness within the cast.
Per Rotten Tomatoes reviews, this rating could be based on mid-movie comedy skits or mindless improv by Tucker that doesn't go with the plot of the movie. Chicago Sun-Times top critic Roger Ebert publically wondered, "How can a movie allow [Tucker] to be so obnoxious and make no acknowledgment that his behavior is aberrant?"
Tanya Roberts
Tanya Roberts landed at #54 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List for her role as a Bond girl in 1985's A View to a Kill. While many believed she fit the role well, IMDb user Spectravideo left a different kind of review. Spectravideo explained that Roberts's performance "Brings the experience down quite a bit."
With a score of 37% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film might not be one of her most favored works. But, that doesn't mean she wasn't able to wrangle more roles. Since her Bond girl days, she recaptured hearts as Midge Pinciotti on That '70s Show and may have piqued interest in her skills again.
Ashton Kutcher
Described as a "Complete imbecile" by one IMDb user for his role in That '70s Show, Ashton Kutcher landed at #15 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. He grew up in the Hollywood spotlight, and some critics wish that he had evolved on screen throughout the years.
With several reviews explaining that they were waiting for Kutcher to grow out of his young-boy acting routine, many feel that he still has not gone through that growth spurt. For now, a Rotton Tomatoes user refers to the actor's early roles as playing a "Dimwitted hunk."
Mandy Moore
According to her IMDb biography, Mandy Moore could be on this list due to her part as Jenny in the 2005 movie, Cursed, not being up to par with production. In the end, Moore's scenes were deleted and later reshot. Not with Mandy, though; She was replaced with fellow actress Mya Harrison.
Newark Star-Ledger's top Rotten Tomatoes critic, Stephen Whitty, gave his opinion of the actress. "Moore was a spirited off-screen presence in Tangled, but her charms as an actress are strained here," he said. Whitty stated that Cursed is "Additional weight" to Moore's other films such as Because I Said So and License to Wed.
Charlie Sheen
Widely recognized for his time on the sitcom Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen was eventually replaced due to his once unpredictable behavior, according to IMDb. That could be why he sits at #34 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List.
Roger Ebert, Pulitzer Prize holder for Criticism, described Sheen's acting as "Ludicrous," explaining how shocked he was to see Charlie pause between action scenes, "Seemingly confused." Above all else, it seems as though Ebert recognized many of the action scenes as rip-offs from other films.
Heather Locklear
Heather Locklear's role in Melrose Place, is what many people believe landed her at #62 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List. Some credit Locklear for the show's success, but many IMDb critics have said that her costars are actually the ones to thank here.
In fact, one critic described Locklear as their least favorite character on the show. They commented, "She is quite a b****," of Heather's acting persona. Whether that was just the role she had to play or the way she was at the time, we'll never know, but the critics have spoken!
Freddie Prinze Jr.
Portrayed as a high school jock in 1999's She's All That, Freddie Prinze Jr. made quite the splash in his role, but not necessarily into a pool of complements. With IMDb reviews saying he's one of the most frustrating actors to watch, he sits at #39 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List.
After starring in a movie where he makes a bet that he can turn the unpopular into popular, the bad wrap that he received has not been quick to go away. Rotten Tomatoes gives the movie 40% and describes it as not consistently funny while critics name it a slow comedy without much to look forward to.
Hilary Duff
Rotten Tomatoes' official page for A Cinderella Story rated Hilary Duff's starring role only 12%, and described the flick as an uninspiring take on a classic fairytale. This might explain why the Lizzie McGuire actress ranked #68 on IMDb's List of Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses.
Pulitzer Prize holder for Criticism, Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times, referred to Duff's film as "A terrible movie, sappy and dead in the water. While this flick might be enjoyed more by the average teenager, many believe it is undoubtedly not Hilary's best work.
David Spade
One of David Spade's highest-rated movies on Rotten Tomatoes is The Emperor's New Groove, an animated movie in which Spade's extent of acting reached as far as a recording studio microphone. Surprisingly, the film still received a very high rating from the platform, at a whopping 85%.
A Rotten Tomatoes critic theorized that David's lesser status as an actor comes from most of his jokes "Simply not landing." Even as Kuzco, the Emperor, many top critics believe a better actor could have been picked. This might be why Spade was soon replaced in the films that followed.
Charlene Tilton
Several Rotten Tomatoes critics did not particularly enjoy Superhero Movie, despite Charlene Tilton being widely known for it. The platform rated the flick a low score of 17% and described it as relying on overused gags and references from pop culture that was out of date.
Tilton sits pretty high up at #11 on IMDb's List of Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses due to this movie. From melodramatic performances by the actress and her co-stars to jokes that didn't bring laughter to the masses, many believe this superhero flick is far from impressive.
Ben Affleck
Although he's received several awards for his producing and writing abilities in Hollywood, Ben Affleck's acting performances have been described by IMDb critics as not standing out enough in his movies. With many wishing that he brought more to the big screen, others are very fond of him.
Some Rotten Tomatoes critics have expressed feeling as though Affleck has always had a hard time being able to immerse himself in roles. In fact, several critics feel that his personality as Ben Affleck shines through no matter what, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Drew Barrymore
Child actress turned adult star Drew Barrymore sits at #19 on IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses List for her role in Never Been Kissed. While some are absolutely in love with her character, one IMDb critic commented, "I don't think I can think of one authentic human moment in the whole movie."
While some viewers loved Barrymore's playful and young portrayal of her role in the film, saying that she makes a dim movie worth watching, others feel that it is fake and unrelatable. Nevertheless, Drew and the rest of the Hollywood stars on this list have overcome their fair share of negative reviews.
Scott 'Carrot Top' Thompson
Scott Thompson locked himself in Hollywood's books as Carrot Top, after breaking into the movie scene in the early 1990s. And while his filmography credits feature over 30 different projects in film and television, many felt the 56-year-old actor never truly found his groove.
His lead in the 1998 comedy, Chairman of the Board landed a mere 2.3 out of 10 amongst IMDb users, which probably explained why there weren't any other lead roles thrown his way. While he may be ranked as IMDb's 12th worst actor, Thompson has gone on to land guest appearances up to this very day.
Josh Hartnett
Josh Hartnett had dreams of making it big in Hollywood, however, the public wasn't so kind. The now 43-year-old actor landed parts in some pretty incredible blockbusters including Pearl Harbor, Sin City, and Hollywood Homicide. So what happened and why didn't he become a household favorite?
Well, according to IMDb, this actor ranked #13 among the worst actors and actresses in the industry. And the critics at Rotten Tomatoes seemed to agree. As one user wrote of his 2014 adventure sci-fi film, The Lovers, "This stinks worse than an oyster's fart."
Roseanne Barr
While Hollywood might not have her back these days, during the late 1980s and 1990s, Roseanne Barr had enough star power to land a show named after herself: Roseanne. The show went on to run for 231 episodes, with Barr flexing her creative muscles as executive producer and creator.
A brief effort was made to bring this 90s classic back in 2017, however, the ABC revival was short-lived - possibly due to Roseanne's place in public opinion. As it stands currently, the 68-year-old actress has solidified a spot for herself in IMDb's top 15 worst actors and actresses.
Alicia Silverstone
Back in 1995, Alicia Silverstone held Hollywood in the palm of her hand thanks to her lead role in the ever-so-quotable rom-com, Clueless. And while the film is still relevant in pop culture, the opposite can be said about the 45-year-old actress. That being said, Silverstone has continued to star in projects up until this day.
However, critics haven't been so kind when it comes to her performances. Her 1997 gig in Batman & Robin went on to get only 3.8 rating on IMDb, placing the Hollywood actress 22nd overall for the website's ranked list of the industry's worst actors and actresses. "Ugh, as if!"
Rosie O'Donnell
Roseanne Barr wasn't the only least favored actress on IMDb to land a show in her name, Rosie O'Donnell did it too! From 1996 to 2002, the American actress, comedian, and TV presenter hosted The Rosie O'Donnell Show, which won a number of Daytime Emmy Awards during its time.
But aside from hosting, O'Donnell had a different kind of reputation. All Aboard! Rosie's Family Cruise didn't strike well amongst fans, with one person writing on Rotten Tomatoes, "[It] tells you precisely what its about in the first five minutes and then tells you the same thing for the next 85 minutes over and over again."
Steven Seagal
Steven Seagal built an empire during the late 1980s and 1990s based on his action movies filled to the brim with outrageous stunts and fight scenes. But behind the flashy moves and explosions, what did film-goers actually think of the actor's talents?
"Unfortunately, Segal...is no match for Caine," one Rotten Tomatoes user wrote of his 1994 film, On Deadly Ground. "His on-screen personality is petulant and humorless, his voice so grating you want to reach for a mute button." And IMDb agreed, ranking him as one of Hollywood's worst actors.
Larry Miller
While Larry Miller has appeared in supporting roles in some of our favorite comedies, the 68-year-old actor has struggled to land a main part in a big-budget production. His long list of appearances includes 10 Things I Hate About You, Princess Diaries, and Dilbert - but what's been standing in his way?
Well, some people believe it's Miller's type-cast that's been holding him back. On Rotten Tomatoes, one user likened his 2012 comedy, General Education to "a strained collection of outtakes from other comedies." Because of this, IMDb ranked him in the top 30 worst actors in the game.
Pamela Anderson
After gaining fame for her Playboy appearances, Pamela broke into the entertainment scene with full force. She landed her first gig as Lisa on ABC's Home Improvement before going on to star as C. J. Parker on Baywwatch, where she stayed for five seasons. And then came the big screen...
Pamela got her shot with her first star role in Raw Justice, a 1994 action film. Unfortunately, the film went on to get only 4.1 on IMDb. Two years later she starred in Barb Wire, which didn't stand up on Rotten Tomatoes. One user described her as a "bad heroine [with] bad acting," hence explaining the spot on IMDb's list.
Elvis Presley
He may be a Grammy Award-winning singer and Hall of Fame inductee, but according to IMDb's Top 100 Worst Actors/Actresses, Elvis Presley wasn't making any heads turn with his acting capabilities.
That being said, the famous rock 'n roller starred in dozens of films during his career. However, aside from his musical numbers, fans weren't overly impressed. His 1965 comedy musical, Harum Scarum only scored 4.7 out of 10 on IMDb. But his albums more than make up for it!
Hulk Hogan
From Rocky III to Thunder in Paradise, Hulk Hogan had a fairly successful transition on paper from the world of WWE to the Hollywood big screen and television. But despite the multiple entries on his filmography list, many believed that Hogan didn't bring much to the table besides big muscles and fight scenes.
It's safe to say that Hulk was type-casted, but it wasn't paying off with IMDb critics. His 1996 family comedy, Santa with Muscles scored only 2.6 out of 10. With a score like that, not many were surprised to see that Hogan found himself on the top 100 worst actors and actresses list.
Taylor Lautner
This child star first became a household name during his time in Twilight, boasting both the charm and charisma to get him far. Unfortunately, not everyone saw it that way. Not only did the actor rank #6 on IMDb's The 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever, but critics haven't been shy making their opinions known.
Lautner's most recent film, Run the Tide, received a 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, something that called for lots of criticism. "Both the film and its star, Taylor Lautner, are more scenic than dramatic," critic Roger Moore shaded. Another noted the drama didn't "connect emotionally or spiritually."
Katherine Heigl
Another star to top IMDb's 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever list is none other than Katherine Heigl. Like her or not, the Hollywood star has been met with lots of criticism during her time on our screens - including her most recent Netflix adventure. Ring a bell?
This past year, the actress landed a starring role in dramedy series Firefly Lane, something certified "rotten." At least where critics were concerned. In fact, according to Rotten Tomatoes reviewer Jackie K. Cooper, "casting could have been better."
Katie Holmes
America's sweetheart has been navigating the scene for decades now. But that doesn't mean it's always been smooth sailing. "Does Dawson's Creek deserve all the hoopla? Nah. It's... an oversimplified, teeny-bopper version of... soap operas," one Rotten Tomatoes critic slammed the actress's breakout role.
Unfortunately, that's not where the feedback ends. Not only has Holmes since landed a spot on IMDb's 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever list, but her latest role was deemed a flop by critics. According to Rotten Tomatoes reviewer Joe Friar, Dare to Dream was "predictable;" a film "you'll either fall in love with... or hurl" from.
Julianne Hough
Whether she's dancing or singing - or both - this triple-threat can seemingly do it all. Though it appears not everybody is imprssed. The Safe Haven actress, too, earned a spot on IMDb's 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever roundup. But that's not all.
Hough's most recent gig, Bigger, was frowned upon by critics and audience members alike. As Rotten Tomatoes reviewer Michael Rechtshaffen slammed of the actress and her co-stars, "the performances prove to be as unconvincing as their ethnic accents and period wigs."
Zac Efron
Our next actor has come a long way since stealing hearts at East High. The High School Musical heartthrob has continued to take Hollywood by storm ever since his breakout Disney role. But as far as critics are concerned? Perhaps not with good reason.
From being labeled one of the 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever, according to IMDb, to being slammed by Rotten Tomatoes reviewers, Efron hasn't always been well received. As critic Roger Moore shaded, the actor "is on his way out the door." Take what ya want from that one...
Addison Rae
Name not ringing a bell? This star first caught her big break on TikTok, but she certainly hasn't stayed there. From inking her very own Netflix deals to kickstarting a music career, Addison Rae is just getting started. But according to critics, that might not be a good thing...
After making her acting debut in Netflix's He's All That, the 21-year-old was met with lots of harsh criticism. The movie, deemed "rotten" by Rotten Tomatoes, was viewed as a learning lesson "about how anyone can be an actor now, regardless of one's (lack of) qualifications or talent for the craft," as critic Jordan Julian put it.
J.Lo
She'll always be Jenny from the block, but her reality sure looks different these days... From her thriving music career to her time as an actress, J.Lo has seemingly done it all. Unfortunately, the latter hasn't always been applauded. According to critics, at least...
As Rotten Tomatoes critic Mike McGranaghan put it, J.Lo's time in The Boy Next Door was "the final nail into her film career's coffin." Perhaps unsurprisingly enough, Lopez has since landed a spot on IMDb's 100 Worst Actors and Actresses Ever. Many other critics, too, believe her acting career is on its way out.
Luke Wilson
The Wilson family has been dominating the scene for longer than we can remember now. But where does that leave younger brother Luke? According to IMDb, perhaps not in the best place... As their "Worst Actors in My Opinion" list noted, the actor is the 5th worst actor in Hollywood.
"Maybe he would be better if he wasn't always impersonating his brother. (but probably not)," one of these critics noted. Ironically enough, Owen Wilson, too, was featured on their list of the worst actors. Nonetheless, the brothers don't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.
Paul Rudd
While his resistance to aging has left several spectators amazed, Paul Rudd's career isn't viewed as highly - at least as far as critics are concerned. Not only does the actor sit at #26 on IMDb's Worst Actors Ever Seen, but his films have also been met with disapproval.
"If Mr. Rudd had only done a couple of movies with a couple of cameos, he would be alright in my book," one IMDb critic explained of the Clueless actor. "But the man is cast as lead and always plays the same character: a whiny, awkward burnt-out hipster."
Wentworth Miller
When Michael Scofield set off to get his brother out of prison, his life changed in more ways than one. The Prison Break star was propped directly into the spotlight as his fame continued to reach new heights. But while the series might have been deemed a fan-favorite, many had lots to say about Miller's acting chops...
"The lead role acting is horrible. This character would be more believable if it didn't look like a teenager fresh of middle school," one IMDb critic griped of Wentworth Miller's performance. According to another critic, "he couldn't act his way out of a paper bag."
Justin Timberlake
He might be able to carry a tune, but this singer's time as a Hollywood actor has been perceived very differently: "Justin Timberlake can not carry a movie on his own, and this one sinks under his efforts," Rotten Tomatoes critic Jackie K. Cooper, criticized of JT's time in Runner Runner. But Cooper's not the only one calling out Timerblake's acting chops. Over the years, the actor has faced endless criticism for his time on the big-screen.
And according to another critic, there's good reason for that. "Justin Timberlake lacks the charisma," griped Rotten Tomatoes critic Harvey S. Karten. We're not so sure our NSYNC fans would agree with that one, Harvey. But, hey, to each his own. Right? Whatever the case may be, from Mickey Mouse Club to Friends With Benefits, there's no denying this child-star has come a long way. And we love to see it!
Nick Jonas
Star in a band with his brothers? Check. Gravitate towards our TV screens? Check. This child-star has just about done it all. But according to several critics, that doesn't mean the Jonas Brother always got the job done right. Look no further than his role in Careful What You Wish For - a film that scored just 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.
As several Rotten Tomatoes reviewers noted, the singer-turned-actor might not be cut out for a job in front of the big screen. "Jonas is incapable of making simple facial expressions, let alone evincing existential dread," one critic, Chris Packham, slammed.
Eddie Murphy
From SNL to Shrek to everything in between, Eddie Murphy has been putting smiles on faces for years now. Or has he? According to critics, the famed comedian-turned-actor has been on a decline thanks to his most recent roles. And they're not the only ones who feel that way: "I was making [bad] movies," the actor himself reflected.
Unfortunately, Rotten Tomatoes also had lots to say about Murphy's recent roles. "Does Eddie Murphy actually have any range, or is it just an illusion created by a few early edgy roles and, later, a lot of CGI makeup and fat suits?" critic Bilge Ebiri expressed.
Jessica Simpson
With a billion-dollar fashion empire and several hit songs under her belt, this blonde beauty has had quite her fair share of success. But when it comes to the Hollywood bombshell's time on-screen? According to critics, it appears the same can't be said.
Aside from her time in eye opening documentary, America The Beautiful, Simpson's roles have been met with lots of critique. Not only have all of her films been certified "rotten" by Rotten Tomatoes, but Jessica was dubbed a "trifle typecast" by Rotten Tomatoes critic Anna Smith.
Kristen Stewart
It's been a long time since we watched this beauty star as an immortal vampire. Safe to say, a whole lot has changed since then. The Twilight child-star has, no doubt, had quite the ride in Hollywood. But how do those who've been tagging along feel about it all?
Perhaps not too thrilled... Coming in 1st place on IMDb's The 40 Worst Actresses Ever, Stewart has been dubbed "emotionless" by many. "She is literally the worst actress EVER... she doesn't know how to portray her emotions," one IMDb critic noted. But with her new film Spencer slowly gaining momentum, that's all subject to change...
