Chelsea Handler Makes Hilarious Confession About the Sun & Moon
| LAST UPDATE 01/17/2023
On a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, comedian Chelsea Handler recalled how, upon returning from an overseas trip to Africa, she discovered that the sun and moon were not "the same thing" ... at age 40. We get it, girl - middle school science class was not our strong suit either. Here's a look!
During her appearance on The Tonight Show, Handler shared a hilarious story about how she didn't realize until adulthood that the sun and moon were two separate entities. The former late-night host had apparently assumed they were one and the same - so much so that it took traveling to Africa for her to finally understand their differences. Handler then went on to tell Fallon about how her sister played a huge role in helping her learn the difference between the two objects. Thanks, sis!
It wasn't until the Handler family visited Africa that Chelsea realized just how different the sun and the moon really were. She told Fallon that she and her sister were "riding an elephant" when her sister said to her '"Chelsea, Chelsea, look up. It's not often you get to see the sun and the moon at the same time.'" A confused Chelsea pointed out to her sister, "but they're always together," to which her sister then demanded some sort of explanation from her! The comedian confessed to her sister, "Honestly, I just assumed when the sun went down, it popped back up as the moon." It was only then that she truly understood what had been staring her in the face for years: the sun and moon are simply not the same!

So now that we can confirm Chelsea Handler does, in fact, know that the sun and the moon are two different entities, we can all sleep much better at night! LOL. In other news, Handler recently took her comedic experts in hosting this year's Critics Choice Awards, and to no one's surprise, she absolutely killed it. From her opening monologue to her continued jokes throughout the evening and her overall stage presence, Handler is truly a comedic force to be reckoned with. Although, she could use a quick astronomy refresher...
