It's always a pretty awkward situation to get someone's name wrong. But if you ask us, the recent mistake Cardi B made when she referred to 29-year-old singer-songwriter Charli XCX pretty much tops the list. And if anything, we - and Charli - think it was actually pretty hilarious.

In recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Boom Clap singer told the funny story of accidentally being misnamed by Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B. According to Charli, the rapper tweeted about the two musicians' collaboration on Rita Ora's 2018 song Girls, which also featured Bebe Rexha. In the process of doing so, Cardi apparently tagged the wrong account, and instead of tagging Charlie XCX, her tweet included someone else entirely.

On the talk show hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Charli joked about her initial excitement turning into confusion as she read the tweet. "She tweets the song, and I'm like, 'Oh my god! Cardi B tweeted my name! This is huge!'" Charli said. "And then I checked the tag, and instead of Charli XCX, it's 'Charli STD.'" LOL. We've heard about funny mix-ups with similar names, but we definitely didn't see this one coming. The singer explained that, despite working on the single together, she and Cardi B had actually never met. “It was one of those scenarios where we never actually met when we made the song. We shot the music video separately and we were sending verses or whatever.” If we look at the full half of the cup, Charli's explanation might relieve Cardi of some of the blame for the confusion.

But, to make matters worse (or funnier), the Bodak Yellow rapper tagged the wrong account not once, but twice - talk about contagious. Charli's story had Fallon's audience roaring with laughter, as well as Fallon himself, who joked, "Close enough," after hearing about the hilarious incident. Fortunately, the After the Afterparty singer didn't seem too bothered by the mistake. "I felt honored, actually," she said in the interview. "If anyone is gonna make this kind of online error, it's gotta be Cardi, because it's iconic. I'm almost happy it happened. She can call me Charli STD whenever she wants." We're not sure whether the hilarious nickname will spread as quickly as the infectious disease, but we're glad Charli XCX was at least able to joke about the funny mix-up.
