From Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson to Margot Robbie and Emma Mackey, check out this list of celebrity lookalikes we think could star as twins - or at least siblings - in their next movies!
Sarah Hyland & Mila Kunis
It's remarkable how similar these two actresses appear - they could be sisters! Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland and That '70s Show star Mila Kunis always get mistaken for the other.
The two know that fans always mistake them for the other. Hyland revealed to InStyle that Kunis once approached her and told her that she pretends to be her because it makes Kunis feel young. Hyland asked Kunis if she could pretend to be her next time they had a case of mistaken identity.
Amy Adams & Isla Fisher
More than just their red hair makes these two celebrities look like they could be sisters. Julie & Julia actress Amy Adams and Confessions of a Shopaholic actress Isla Fisher have always been confused for each other. Fisher took their resemblance to the next level!
When creating her family's Christmas cards, she swapped out her face for Amy's. The joke worked so well, though, that no one paid attention! Per Daily Mail, Isla said, "No one noticed! 'Oh, your card was so cute!' I was like, 'It was a joke, it's not me, it's Amy!'"
Margot Robbie & Samara Weaving
Australian actress Margot Robbie has a celebrity lookalike who could play her twin. It's another actress from the land down under! Australian actress Samara Weaving has started to make waves in Hollywood, and people cannot help but compare the two Aussies.
Weaving told WHO Magazine about fans approaching her, "I've tried saying, 'No, it's not who you think it is,' but because I also have an Australian accent, people still think I'm Margot and that she's being really rude. Now I just stand there like her." We'd love to see them star as sisters together.
Will Ferrell & Chad Smith
Some celebrities have such an uncanny resemblance that it's hard to believe they are not related. Step Brothers actor Will Ferrell looks practically identical to Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. The two even made a joke about how much they looked like brothers.
They appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon together, wearing matching outfits. Ferrell and Smith even mimicked each other's behavior as Fallon interviewed them. They even answered for the other! Now that we've seen how similar they look and act, we would love to see them star as brothers in a movie.
Jessica Chastain & Bryce Dallas Howard
These former co-stars look so similar that fans always get them mixed up. Bryce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastain are used to being confused by now, and they are in good spirits about it. After all, it's been happening since the beginning of their careers.
When she appeared on The Tonight Show, Chastain told Jimmy Fallon, "We did Help together and that was the first time we like grabbed each other and said, 'Let's look in the mirror.' And we looked at our faces side by side and we were like, 'Okay, we look alike.'" Even they agree!
Penelope Cruz & Salma Hayek
Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek look so much alike that even the official Oscars Instagram account confused the actresses. The incident happened in 2014 when a photo of Cruz and Robert De Niro was posted and captioned, "Hayek and De Niro prepping backstage #Oscars."
Major oops! However, Hayek and Cruz are well aware they look like they could be related. The two actresses post selfies together on their social media pages and have nicknames for each other. They call one another "huevos," which translates to eggs in Spanish.
Katy Perry & Zooey Deschanel
These two California girls look incredibly similar! New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel and Fireworks singer Katy Perry have a striking resemblance to each other with their dark hair, blue eyes, and fair complexion. Deschanel was unsure what to think until she met her celeb lookalike.
Deschanel shared with late-night host David Letterman in 2012, "I was relieved because everyone kept saying 'this girl looks so much like you.' And then I met her and I was like, 'thank God she's attractive!' I was worried she was gonna be an unattractive person."
Jesse Eisenberg & Michael Cera
People often confuse Arrested Development alum Michael Cera with his celebrity lookalike, The Social Network actor Jesse Eisenberg. Cera told The New York Post that he gets mistaken for many people. Fans will ask him if he's Napoleon Dynamite, but his most frequent mix-up is Eisenberg.
We can totally see why fans would get confused between the two actors. They look like they could be twins! Cera also told The New York Post, "I bumped into Jesse on the street once and he told me he gets it once a day: People think he's Michael Cera." The confusion goes both ways.
Jennifer Connelly & Demi Moore
These two Hollywood starlets always get mistaken for each other. Demi Moore and Jennifer Connelly both have dark hair, hazel eyes, and thick eyebrows. They look like they could be sisters, and we're waiting for the day when they star in a movie together.
According to Vanity Fair, Connelly constantly gets mistaken for the Ghost actress. Fans always think she is either Demi or Demi's sister, which she is neither! We can't blame fans for getting the two confused. Both stars had their rise to fame around the same time.
Hilary Swank & Jennifer Garner
Million Dollar Baby actress Hilary Swank gets confused with Alias actress Jennifer Garner. She told Conan O'Brien on his show all about her run-ins with fans who don't know how to tell them apart, saying, "...people get angry at me because they think that I'm just trying not to sign an autograph for them or take a picture."
She continues to try and explain to the fans that she is not Jennifer, but they won't accept it! The two actresses do have a lot of similar features. While they may not be the same person, we think they could definitely pass for sisters in a movie or television show.
Ryan Seacrest & Joel McHale
American Idol host Ryan Seacrest and Animal Control actor Joel McHale always get mistaken for each other. So much so that we think they could play twins in a movie together! The similarity was repeatedly used as a joke on Community, the NBC sitcom on which McHale starred for six seasons.
When appearing on Live with Kelly and Ryan, McHale told Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest that morning he was at a coffee shop, and someone went up to him and said, "I know you," and McHale responded with, "Ryan Seacrest." The person wished him good luck on his show and continued his day. The resemblance is uncanny!
Chelsea Handler & Elizabeth Banks
These two Hollywood ladies have a lot in common. They are both hilarious, have blonde hair, and have had impressive, successful careers. Comedian Chelsea Handler and actress Elizabeth Banks also look like they could be twins. One time a fan mistook Banks for Handler.
When Banks appeared on Chelsea Lately, she told the story. Banks said, "...A guy walked up to me and said, 'Oh my god, my girlfriend loves you... He's like, 'I just love your books.I mean, My Horizontal Life...' I was like 'Oh, he thinks he's meeting Chelsea Handler.' I couldn't ruin it for him!"
Rupert Grint & Ed Sheeran
Rupert Grint has been in the spotlight since he was a child starring as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films. So, by now, he is used to being recognized in public. However, now fans are mistaking him for another redheaded Brit, Shape of You singer Ed Sheeran!
Back in 2011, Grint even starred in the music video for Sheeran's song Lego House. They dressed up in matching outfits, and they look like twins. They could have played everyone's favorite redheaded twins from the Harry Potter franchise, Fred and George Weasley.
Margot Robbie & Emma Mackey
Making the list of celebrities with lookalikes so similar that they could be siblings for a second time is Australian actress Margot Robbie. This time fans can't notice how unbelievably identical she is to Sex Education actress Emma Mackey. The two keep getting mistaken for each other.
Robbie told BBC Radio 1, "Someone came up a few weeks ago. I was eating a burger at Applepan, and they were like, 'I loved you in Sex Education. That show is so cool, we just started watching it.' And I was like, 'I'm so sorry, it's not me.'" So, when are we getting a movie with Mackey and Robbie starring as sisters?
Zach Braff & Dax Shepard
Scrubs actor Zach Braff and Armchair Expert podcast host Dax Shepard know they look related. Even though Braff has darker hair than Shepard, they both have similar facial features that make them look like brothers. Being the funny guy that he is, Braff couldn't help but have fun with their resemblance.
When Shepard appeared on the cover of People magazine with his wife, Frozen actress Kristen Bell, Braff had something to say about it. He commented on Bell's Instagram post about the cover, "@kristenanniebell we look cute here." The two actors also did a face swap photo, and it appeared like nothing changed.
Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson
True Detective stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are aware of just how similar they look to each other. Harrelson has gone all in on the theory that they are actually brothers. On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Harrelson discussed how McConaughey's mom told them she knew Harrelson's father.
The subtext was clear to everyone. Harrelson is urging his friend to take a DNA test to see if they are indeed brothers, but McConaughey has declined to do so. Talk about a plot twist! Their upcoming show Brother From Another Mother could possibly be titled "Brother From the Same Mother."
Natalia Dyer & Timothée Chalamet
These next celebrities' resemblance to each other is one strange thing. Dune actor Timothée Chalamet and Stranger Things actress Natalia Dyer look exactly alike. The two actors look like the same person and could definitely pass for siblings or even twins in a movie together.
Fans noticed how much they looked alike and shared side-by-side photos on Twitter. It quickly became an internet sensation. One Twitter user suggested, "parent trap but with natalia dyer and timothée chalamet." Now that is a remake that we can totally get behind.
Bill Skarsgård & Steve Buscemi
Although he comes from a famous family, Bill Skarsgård has an uncanny resemblance to one actor who isn't related to him. The It actor looks just like Boardwalk Empire actor Steve Buscemi. Stephen Colbert pointed out the similarity when Skarsgård was a guest on his show. Skarsgård responded, "I've heard it all my life."
Colbert remarked, "Even as a child?!" Skarsgård explained, "I had big, soulful eyes. I had a friend who even looked more like Steve Buscemi than I did, I thought. So, the running joke when we were growing up was, 'No, you look like Steve Buscemi. No, you look like Steve Buscemi.'"
Nina Dobrev & Victoria Justice
The Vampire Diaries alum Nina Dobrev has a supernatural likening to another Hollywood starlet, singer-actress Victoria Justice. Fans have been obsessing over how similar the two ladies look for years, and the girls are in on it. Just look at what happened at the Teen Choice Awards in 2015.
Justice was presenting the award for Choice TV Actress in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show. When she opened the envelope to announce the winner, Justice said, "And your Choice TV Actress, Sci-Fi Fantasy is… my doppelgänger, Nina Dobrev!" The two hugged as Dobrev accepted her award. Now let's get them in a movie together!
Zoe Saldaña & Thandiwe Newton
Guardians of the Galaxy actress Zoe Saldaña is constantly mistaken for Westworld actress Thandiwe Newton, and vice versa. Newton explained on Graham Norton Show that Victoria Beckham thought she was Saldaña at a SoulCycle class in Los Angeles. Finally, Newton asked her, "Do you think I am Zoe Saldaña?"
Saldaña is used to being mistaken for Newton, except she was surprised when her own mother mixed up the two of them! That's right. She told The Hollywood Reporter that her mother "saw a poster for Crash and called me to ask me why I didn't tell her I was in a movie with Matt Dillon."
Regina Hall & Regina King
Not only do actresses Regina Hall and Regina King look like they could be sisters, but they also share a name. Hall definitely doesn't mind the cases of mistaken identity. She joked at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, "I hope she wins, because people get us confused and I get all the perks."
Hall continued, "Seriously, they're like, 'Here's a gift certificate for Regina King, for $5,000 for Barney's' and I'm just like, 'I'm her!' They're like, 'We love you Ms. King!' I'm like, 'Thank you.'" She joked that if King wins an Oscar, she'll get a car. All jokes aside, we need a movie with them as sisters ASAP.
Gerard Butler & Clive Owen
Both actors are handsome, have mesmerizing accents, and have enjoyed wonderful careers. So it is easy to see why fans think Clive Owen and Gerard Butler could pass as brothers, even twins. There's only a five-year age difference between the two actors.
However, they will have to tweak their accents just a bit to make it seem like they are related. Olympus Has Fallen actor Butler was born in Scotland, while the Inside Man actor Owen was born in England. We think they're both brilliant enough to pull it off, though.
Susan Sarandon & Sigourney Weaver
Susan Sarandon and Sigourney Weaver have very accomplished careers. They have been actresses in Hollywood for decades and have been mistaken for each other for the entire time. Sarandon joked about the constant cases of mistaken identity at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards.
Sarandon said, "I wanna just clarify a few things. Sigourney may have left the stage but we are two different people. I have taken credit for Alien many times and she's signed autographs for me." The Hollywood veterans are used to this game of who is who at this point.
James McAvoy & Ewan McGregor
X-Men actor James McAvoy is used to being confused with Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor. It occurs so often that McAvoy used it as part of his opening monologue when he hosted Saturday Night Live in 2019. He joked about how people recognize him from movies like Star Wars, Christopher Robin, and Trainspotting.
He continued, "Those people would be wrong because that's Ewan McGregor. He's the other Scottish actor. I think it's actually quite easy to tell us apart. See, my eyes are blue, and he's got more money than me." We would love to see these two Scots be in a movie together as brothers or twins.
John Mulaney & Grant Gustin
It's not the worst thing to be misperceived as a superhero. Stand-up comedian John Mulaney realized this when he was mistaken for The Flash actor Grant Gustin. Gustin is mainly known for playing the role of Barry Allen, also known by his superhero alter ego, The Flash. For a brief moment, Mulaney got to feel the superhero's glory.
The Saturday Night Live alum tweeted, "@grantgust thanks Grant. Dubai customs asked if I was you. They were super disappointed when I wasn't." One fan responded on Twitter, "john has to guest star on the Flash as future Barry now, right?" We're good with that!
Jeff Bridges & Kurt Russell
Everyone knows who the Dude is, but sometimes, they get him mixed up entirely for a different actor. The Big Lebowski actor Jeff Bridges revealed during Wired's Autocomplete Interview that he has a celebrity doppelgänger running around Hollywood.
During the interview, actress Dakota Johnson asked Bridges, "Who does Jeff Bridges look like?" The actor responded, "I've signed a Kurt Russell photograph. People say, 'Kurt, you're my favorite.'" We can see the similarities between Bridges and The Hateful Eight actor Kurt Russell.
Henry Cavill & Matt Bomer
It is hard to fathom that these two actors are different people. White Collar actor Matt Bomer and Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill are not the same person. We had a difficult time believing it at first, too. Even though Cavill is British and Bomer is American, fans always mix them up.
Cavill said during an interview, "There's one particular photo of Matt Bomer… And people keep on handing that to me, and I'm like I would love to sign this for you but that's not me…" Even Cavill admitted, "There are some facial structures similarities for sure."
Helen Mirren & Alexandra Grant
Dame Helen Mirren has been confused for another woman, and she has no problem with it. People went wild when Keanu Reeves stepped out on the red carpet with his new girlfriend, artist Alexandra Grant. They thought that Grant was The Queen actress Mirren.
Mirren saw the Twitter outrage and said, "That was very flattering on me, you know, because she's obviously lovely." The Brit has a connection with Reeves, even if it isn't romantic. Her husband directed him in a movie. We would love to see Mirran and Reeves' rumored flame, Grant, in a film together.
Natalie Portman & Keira Knightley
The striking similarities between Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley are nothing new. They have always looked alike to the point that Knightley was cast as Sabé in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Her character acted as a body double to Portman's Queen Padmé Amidala.
It didn't stop when they were young, either. Knightley told James Corden during an appearance on The Late Late Show that she was chased through an airport because people thought she was Natalie Portman. It's about time these two reunited in a movie, except this time, they could play sisters!
Ralph Fiennes & Liam Neeson
Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson have been friends and acting together for over 20 years. The pair starred in the award-winning Schindler's List and the action-packed Wrath of the Titans together. Not only are they friends, but they could pass for brothers.
Liam Neeson explained on The Jonathan Ross Show, "I keep getting fans and stuff mixing me up with Ralph because we have very similar profiles. So I've been complimented on winning a Tony Award for my Hamlet, he's been complimented on the Taken movies."
