Where It All Began

Despite growing up in London, just 15 minutes away from each other, it wasn’t until 1997 that David and Victoria finally crossed paths. The famous athlete was instantly mesmerized by Posh Spice.

"She came to a football match — soccer match — and I said hi from across the room and that was it," David told the story on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "I thought I'd missed my chance, and then a week later she turned up at another football match." Luckily, the former Manchester United player would get a second chance.

A Timeless Memento

Back in 2020, David opened up to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show about how he scored Victoria's number. "We talked for about an hour in the players' lounge and then she actually got the train up that day, so she wrote her number down on her train ticket, which I still have.” Talk about romance!

They shared the happy news during a press conference, where Posh Spice showed off her first of many diamond rings to come. “It’s lovely, it’s a surprise, as well,” she revealed. Fans eagerly waited to witness the famous couple's wedding, yet little did they know Victoria and David had another surprise up their sleeve! The pop star and the athlete revealed that they were expecting their first child. On March 4th, 1999 they welcomed Brooklyn Beckham into their hearts.

It was speculated that the baby was named after the city he was conceived in. But Victoria spilled the real tea in her book, Learning to Fly. "It was when we were in Marbella that we came up with the name Brooklyn...only afterwards that I realized how appropriate it was because it was in New York that I found out I was pregnant."

In July 1999, the two became one after Victoria and David got married in an extravagant wedding at Luttrellstown Castle right outside Dublin, Ireland. After three years of marriage, the Beckhams revealed in 2002 that their family of three would soon be a family of four. After Victoria gave birth to Romeo on September 1st her husband shared that their bundle of joy looked just like his big brother. “He’s got Brooklyn’s nose and Victoria’s chin,” he said.
