Cassandra was devastated when her fluffy best friend was stolen from her home in October. She had almost given up hope until he was surprisingly found about 2000 miles from home. However, getting him back proved to be more than a one-man job.

Zeus had been taken from his home in Butte, Montana, United States. Thankfully, he had been tracked down all the way in West Virginia. However, he is no little boy weighing 73lbs so getting home was the hardest part.

Thankfully, there were good people that were happy to help, since Cassandra couldn't do the full journey alone.

She employed 30 strangers who each drove Zeus a little part of the way. It took four days and three sleepovers just get the big boy home but he made it. Volunteers from the Paws Volunteer Transport group were happy to step in and do their part along with Kanawha Charleston Humane Association, updating everybody on Zeus's whereabouts.

Jenn Robles, a volunteer with Many Paws Volunteer Transport, said that she was only too happy that she could help reunite Zeus with his owner. "It's wonderful. This is a great experience, a great opportunity to show the people and communities across the United States offering to help, jumping on this - to help reunite this dog with its family," she said.

Chelsea Staley, from the Kanawha Charleston Humane Association, explained that they had reason to believe Zeus was taken by a friend of Cassandra's in October. She said that "It seems Cassandra who is a single mom in Butte, Montana, allowed a family friend to come stay with her for a bit.

"The 'friend' basically robbed her blind, stole her wallet, a number of things while she was at work including her dog Zeus. The friend was apprehended in Nitro, and when he was arrested Zeus was still with him."

To announce Zeus's return, the Kanawha Charleston Humane Association posted a video to its Facebook page. The caption read: "We're so honored to be a part of his journey, and grateful for the volunteers nationwide who made this reunion possible! While Zeus' journey is a heartwarming holiday story, it's just a glimpse into what animal welfare organizations do 365 days per year, in order to save pets' lives and reunite families."
