The town of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky, has a new mayor named Wilbur Beast. Beast is well-liked, respected, but best of all, he is a dog. Because why have a human leader when you can have a French Bulldog instead?

Rabbit Hash, Kentucky reportedly has about 12 buildings and a small number of full-time residents. But what truly makes this town different from others is that furry friends are encouraged to run for Mayor. In fact, canines have dominated the governmental position since 1998.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, the new Rabbit Hash Mayor was announced in a very official Facebook post. "Mayoral election in Rabbit Hash has been called! Wilbur Beast is the new mayor with an amazing 13,143 votes (highest winning total ever) toward an election total of 22,985," read the caption.

The post continued, "Jack Rabbit, the Beagle, and Poppy, the golden retriever came in second and third, making them both Rabbit Hash Ambassadors along with Ambassador Lady Stone, who will retain her position. Congratulations to the winners!" If you think that's hilarious, wait until you hear Mayor Wilbur's campaign slogan.

The French bulldog's famous catchline is, "Give me liberty or give me milk bones." We're guessing someone helped Wilbur translate his phrase from Barking to English so that the human voters could understand. But one thing is for sure -- the people were inspired by the dog's words, evidenced by his landslide victory.

Beast Wilbur is the fifth canine mayor of the town and has big paws to fill. Past leaders have served as spokesdogs for crisis centers, led guided tours for visitors, and lent their names for a line of hot sauces sold at the general store. We can't wait to see what Wilbur will accomplish in the office!
