Plaque Has Been Dedicated To The Guy Who Slipped On Ice In Dublin 10 Years Ago

Around 10 years ago, some painful footage of a stranger slipping on ice went totally viral, considering he just so happened to slip during a TV segment.

The male was walking the streets of Dublin and although many have tried to identify the epic bailer, no one has managed to succeed and he has never come forward to claim his viral stardom. The clip came from an RTÉ news segment from Dublin's Church Street, where severe weather conditions caused some icy pavements.

In the report from Dublin correspondent John Kilraine, the man brutally slips and slams his head on the pavement. It is amusing, but it's pretty painful to watch.

10 years later and a plaque has been put up on the side of the wall which was erected by Coors.

It reads: "In honour of 'The guy who slipped on the ice' on RTÉ News January 8th 2010. Your memory lives on."

Conor McIntyre, Senior Brand Manager at Coors Light said: "There are a few key moments on Irish television that are memorable enough to talk about again and again. We felt this deserved a resurgence. We've recently completed The Rockies Awards, rewarding victories in life, big and small and we thought this lad definitely deserved some recognition for making it on to RTÉ News, ten years ago!"

It's brought about some nostalgia and when people saw this, many of them tweeted about it. "10 years since 'the guy who slipped on the ice' and there is a plaque to commemorate him, amazing."

Another wrote: "Oh my god. They put a plaque up to the guy that slipped on the ice live on the news #neverforget #whereishenow." A third said: "This has made my day, always wondered who the 'guy who slipped on the ice' was..."

Others were left wondering where he is and if there could one day be a documentary made about him for Netflix. If he ever chooses to stand up and claim his stardom, we'll be waiting...
