Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, has confirmed that Deadpool 3 is officially in the works. As of right now, filming won't begin until 2022, but Ryan Reynolds and the rest of the crew are looking forward to working on this production.
"It will be rated R, and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan's overseeing a script right now," Feige revealed. Reynolds will indeed be returning for the third part of the Deadpool saga, and he's been hard at work discussing what the upcoming script will include with potential writers. Not only will he be the lead role again, but he's also taking on more creative control of the entire project.
"Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor," Feige added. "We've got a number of things we've already announced that we now have to make, but it's exciting for it to have begun." This particular film is something entirely new to Marvel, thanks to Reynolds and his incredible talent. "Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life," Kevin shared.
Since Deadpool 3 is now a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, some people were surprised to hear that it will be R-rated. Earlier this week, though, Reynolds revealed how he was able to make this happen; "Full disclosure: I showed them Spiderman 1 & 2 and told them it was Deadpool 1 & 2. #Deadpool3," he joked.
Reynolds first spoke about Deadpool 3 back in 2019, when he confirmed that it would eventually be made. "We're working on it right now with the whole team," he shared. "We're over at Marvel [Studios], which is the big leagues all of a sudden It's kinda crazy. So yeah, we're working on it."
Deadpool has been a success from the start, as Ryan was awarded Best Comedic Performance back in 2016 for the first film. With that being said, he has high hopes for Deadpool 3 and is excited for this new adventure with Marvel Studios.
