Linux is a better server kernel, regardless of what OS is built around it (such as Ubuntu, Mandriva, etc). The Matrix would basically be a constantly running server, so Linux would be a better choice. Honestly, though, how many times has the "Send Error Report" button been pushed? Not many. I sent them when I used Windows, but...it never helps. That's what The Oracle was saying, that it wouldn't matter. I am especially pleased with him saying he would learn Ubuntu, though.
