Since it’s election day, we thought it might fun to take a look back at how young people used to get excited about our political process way back in 1996 (around the same time Adam Sandler was rocking his red hooded sweatshirt). In this video clip, we see local news coverage of an MTV-sponsored Rock the Vote party featuring the band Presidents of the United States of America (what ever happened to them?) and a bunch of “excited” young voters who the local newscast explains to us are getting ready to vote by doing something called “moshing in the pit” and a new fad that’s sweeping the nation called “crowd surfing.” Oh 1996, you were so amusing…
