Person with Common Sense, you seem to have no idea what an atheist actually is. An atheist is merely someone who does not beleive in any deity. It has nothing to do with the big bang, evolution or any other science. If an atheist chooses to believe these things then that is their choice but its nothing to do with being atheist.

As for what you had to say about the scientific theories, give me another one! I just about peed myself laughing!

Person with Common Sense, face it Christians are the ones with ridiculous views. Im a Christian and i believe that theirs an all powerful all loving creator (who's invisible), who made everything and everyone, takes care of each individual, listens to each individual and still loves you even if you hate him (and believe he doesnt exist) and still takes the time to make people fall over when touched by that guy!
Think about it these views are completely ridiculous, which brings the question why I would have these views if they are so ridiculous?
I have faith
and that is all i need, ....not anyone falling over or scientific prof. That wont make a difference to whether i believe or not.

Vitalisis, Christians aren't the ones with ridiculous views, atheists are. It's even more ridiculous than Christian views to think that matter formed from nothing, and then that matter that somehow just formed gained intelligence, and then evolved but magically evolution from species to species just stopped. Wow, that is a good theory.

That guy would be Benny Hihn, an evangelical charismatic. One of the top godboys on the planet.
the weird part is the people truly believe this is happening to them. "slain in the spirit" is their term for it...

A very respectful response. I can understand where your coming from and its not all that hard to analyze that the Power of suggestion is plausible in very many cases, but there are real and true miraculous events that have taken place in the type of environment I was talking about.

I also agree and believe that You have the right to believe whatever you want to or not. I don't believe that one man should have to justify his beliefs to another.

What actually spurred me to even post in the first place was the few comments about how ridiculous the humans are acting. When there are so many far more stupid things going on out there that most people think are hilarious.

About "the legs thing" it actually felt more like my legs were asleep, as if I sat on an uncomfortable stool for far too long and lost blood flow to that area of my body. I could not physically move for a few min. Power of suggestion or not, it was odd to loose control of my faculties like that.

^Chris,

I've been in contact with hypnotists (and read a few books), not to mention been "hypnotized".

What the guy did was walk past saying "sleep" to each of us in a line, and then fed us a story about our arms being attached to helium balloons. What happened next? Everybody's arms rose. Including mine. At one point, I decided to stop, for about 4 seconds, before continuing, to see if it could be done. I was able to stop fully.

It's called the power of suggestion. They simply direct your mind to do things it is already willing to do. Would you fall down before "God"? Your preacher is simply using your mindset this way.

A similar thing happened to me (the legs thing) when I was about to faint at a point. I was playing basketball with some friends, and I got tunnel vision. I remember saying to myself, step out, get some air, some water. I couldn't move. But I did eventually manage to step out of the game, still dazed. The thing is, you are only thinking "work legs". Have you ever tried to ask someone to dance, or on a date, and felt that "just do it, just do it" feeling. But you don't do it. Same thing. It's that just do it feeling without the doing it.

Now I say it: I'm atheist.

If I were to ask you (specifically) if believing in God were foolish, or feeling His power were foolish, would you say yes? Probably not. So these people were not acting foolish, in their minds. They merely fell under the power of suggestion.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm not saying believing in God is foolish, I just don't buy it. Many people have this as part of their lives, and that's fine with me. I don't.

Hey that was funny as can be. I'm a believer, and this is hilarious, nice mix of rock and vid.

I did have an experience once. I didn't believe that people were just falling down and acting foolish for any good reason.
When it happened to me, I was just singing a song the band was playing and the preacher guy(not the one in this video) came by and waved his hand at me from 5'-6' away. For whatever reason, My legs gave out completely. I couldn't stand up anymore.

I didn't pass out or faint. I was completely aware of what was going on and I know I kept thinking "that's weird...work legs." It took about 5 min before I could collect myself and get up. To this day I still worship, and go to church and watch people fall down. I still laugh at them too.
